Hadith Number: 1979
Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up to perform prayer, and I heard him saying:“I seek refuge with Allah from you.”Then he said:“I curse you by Allah.”He said this three times. Then he extended his blessed hand forward as if he wanted to catch something. When he finished the prayer, Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! We heard you saying something during the prayer that we have never heard you say before, and we saw you extend your blessed hand forward. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: The enemy of Allah, Iblis, came to me with a burning ember of fire to throw it on my face. So I said: I seek refuge with Allah from you, but he did not retreat. Then I said it again, but he did not retreat. Then I said it again, but he did not retreat. So I intended to seize him by the throat. If it were not for the supplication of my brother, Sayyiduna Sulaiman (peace be upon him), he would have been tied up this morning, and the children of Madinah would have been playing with him.
