Chapter on the Description of Prayer - Clarification that what we described was said by the Prophet in obligatory prayer
Hadith Number: 1978
اخبرنا محمد بن المنذر بن سعيد ، قال: حدثنا يوسف بن سعيد بن مسلم ، قال: حدثنا حجاج بن محمد ، عن ابن جريج ، قال: اخبرني موسى بن عقبة ، عن عبد الله بن الفضل ، عن عبد الرحمن الاعرج ، عن عبيد الله بن ابي رافع ، عن علي بن ابي طالب ، قال: كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا سجد في الصلاة المكتوبة قال:" اللهم لك سجدت، وبك آمنت، ولك اسلمت، انت ربي، سجد وجهي للذي خلقه، وشق سمعه وبصره، تبارك الله احسن الخالقين" .
Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) would go into prostration during the obligatory prayer, he would recite this: "O Allah! I have prostrated for You, and I have believed in You. I have submitted to You, for You are my Lord. My face is in prostration before the One who created it, who granted it hearing and sight. So blessed is Allah, the Best of creators."
