Chapter on the Obligation of Congregation and Excuses Permitting Its Omission - Report about the Prophet's intent to be strict with those absent from Isha and Fajr in congregation
Hadith Number: 2096
اخبرنا عمر بن سعيد بن سنان ، اخبرنا احمد بن ابي بكر ، عن مالك ، عن ابي الزناد ، عن الاعرج ، عن ابي هريرة ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال:" والذي نفسي بيده، لقد هممت ان آمر بحطب فيحطب، ثم آمر بالصلاة فيؤذن لها، ثم آمر رجلا فيؤم الناس، ثم اخالف إلى رجال فاحرق عليهم بيوتهم، والذي نفسي بيده، لو يعلم احدهم انه يجد عظما سمينا او مرماتين حسنتين لشهد العشاء" .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Him in Whose Hand is my soul! I intended to order for wood to be gathered, then order for the prayer to be established, then appoint a man to lead the people in prayer, and then I would go to those men (who do not attend the congregational prayer) and burn their houses down upon them. By Him in Whose Hand is my soul! If any one of them knew that he would find a bone with some meat or two good pieces of meat, he would surely attend the ‘Isha prayer."
