Chapter on the Obligation to Follow the Imam - Command for calmness when coming to prayer and making up what was missed
Hadith Number: 2145
اخبرنا احمد بن علي بن المثنى ، حدثنا ابو خيثمة ، حدثنا سفيان ، عن الزهري ، عن سعيد بن المسيب ، عن ابي هريرة ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " إذا اتيتم الصلاة، فلا تاتوها تسعون، وائتوها وعليكم السكينة، فما ادركتم فصلوا، وما فاتكم فاقضوا" .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "When you come for prayer, do not come running towards it, rather come in a state of calmness. Perform as much of the prayer as you catch, and complete what you have missed afterwards."
