Chapter on the Obligation to Follow the Imam - Clarification that "make up what you missed" means to complete, not reverse
Hadith Number: 2146
اخبرنا عبد الله بن محمد الازدي ، حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم ، اخبرنا عثمان بن عمر ، حدثنا ابن ابي ذئب ، عن الزهري ، عن سعيد بن المسيب ، وابي سلمة ، عن ابي هريرة ، عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " إذا اقيمت الصلاة فائتوها وعليكم السكينة، فصلوا ما ادركتم، وما سبقتم فاتموا" .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "When the prayer has been established, then come to it calmly, walking with tranquility. Whatever part of the prayer you catch, perform it, and whatever has passed, complete it (afterwards)."
