Chapter on What is Disliked and Not Disliked – Report Refuting the Claim that al-Zuhri Heard This from Said ibn al-Musayyib, Not Abu al-Ahwas
Hadith Number: 2274
اخبرنا ابن قتيبة ، قال: حدثنا حرملة ، قال: حدثنا ابن وهب ، قال: حدثنا يونس ، عن ابن شهاب ، ان ابا الاحوص مولى بني ليث، حدثه، في مجلس سعيد بن المسيب، وابن المسيب جالس،، انه سمع ابا ذر يقول: إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " إذا قام احدكم في الصلاة فإن الرحمة تواجهه، فلا يحرك الحصى، او لا يمس الحصى" .
Abu Ahwas narrated this in the gathering of Sa'id bin al-Musayyib. At that time, Sa'id bin al-Musayyib was also sitting there. Abu Ahwas reported: He heard Sayyiduna Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate this. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a person stands to perform prayer, mercy faces him. Therefore, (while performing prayer) he should not move the pebbles (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words:) nor touch the pebbles."
