Chapter on Prostration of Recitation - Narration indicating that the general wording applies to some cases, not all
Hadith Number: 2764
اخبرنا ابو خليفة ، قال: اخبرنا محمد بن كثير ، عن شعبة ، عن ابي إسحاق ، عن الاسود ، عن عبد الله " ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قرا سورة النجم فسجد، فما بقي احد من القوم إلا سجد، إلا رجل واحد اخذ كفا من حصى فوضعه على جبهته"، وقال: يكفيني ، قال عبد الله: فلقد رايته بعد قتل كافرا.
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Surah An-Najm and performed the prostration of recitation. Everyone present performed the prostration of recitation except for one person. He took some pebbles in his fist and touched them to his forehead and said: "This is sufficient for me." Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Later, I saw that person; he was killed in a state of disbelief.
