Patience and Reward for Illness and Afflictions - Clarification that this virtue is for those who are patient and seek reward
Hadith Number: 2932
اخبرنا محمد بن إسحاق بن إبراهيم بن فروخ البغدادي بالرافقة، قال: حدثنا يحيى بن محمد بن السكن ، قال: حدثنا محمد بن جهضم ، قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن جعفر ، عن سهيل بن ابي صالح ، عن الاعمش ، عن ابي صالح ، عن ابي هريرة ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " لا يذهب الله بحبيبتي عبد فيصبر ويحتسب إلا ادخله الله الجنة" .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whenever Allah Almighty takes away two beloved things (that is, eyesight) from a servant, and that servant acts with patience and hopes for reward, then Allah Almighty will admit him into Paradise."
