Voluntary Charity – Recommending to Prefer Parents, Then Relatives, Then Those Closest in Charity
Hadith Number: 3339
اخبرنا زيد بن عبد العزيز بن حبان ابو جابر ، بالموصل، قال: حدثنا محمد بن يحيى بن فياض الزماني ، قال: حدثنا الانصاري ، عن عزرة بن ثابت ، قال: حدثنا ابو الزبير ، عن جابر ، ان رجلا من بني عذرة اعتق مملوكا له عن دبر منه، فبعث إليه النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فباعه، ودفع إليه ثمنه، وقال: " ابدا بنفسك، فتصدق عليها، ثم على ابويك، ثم على قرابتك، ثم هكذا، ثم هكذا" .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man from Banu Udhrah freed his slave as a Mudabbar. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called for him, sold him, and handed over his price to that man. Then he said: Begin with yourself, spend on yourself, then on your parents, then on your close relatives, then like this and like this.
