Preparations for Hajj - Clarification that accompanying one’s wife for her obligatory Hajj is better than voluntary jihad
Hadith Number: 3757
اخبرنا عمر بن محمد الهمداني ، قال: حدثنا عبد الجبار بن العلاء ، قال: حدثنا سفيان ، عن عمرو بن دينار ، عن ابي معبد ، عن ابن عباس ، قال: سمعت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، يقول: " لا يخلون رجل بامراة إلا ومعها ذو محرم"، فقام رجل فقال: يا رسول الله، إني اكتتبت في غزوة كذا وكذا، وانطلقت امراتي حاجة، فقال:" انطلق فحج مع امراتك" .
Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) saying: "No man should ever be alone with a woman unless she is accompanied by a mahram." A man stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon you)! My name has been registered for such-and-such battle, while my wife wants to go for Hajj." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Go and perform Hajj with your wife."
