Preparations for Hajj - Report indicating that a man’s Hajj with his wife, who has no other mahram, is better than voluntary jihad
Hadith Number: 3756
اخبرنا محمد بن محمود بن مقاتل ، قال: حدثنا عبد الجبار بن العلاء ، قال: حدثنا سفيان ، عن عمرو بن دينار ، قال: سمعت ابا معبد ، يقول: سمعت ابن عباس ، يقول: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم على المنبر، يخطب، فقام إليه رجل، فقال: يا رسول الله، اكتتبت في غزاة كذا وكذا، وخرجت امراتي حاجة، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " اذهب فحج بامراتك" .
Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) delivering a sermon on the pulpit, saying: A man stood before him and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! My name has been registered for participation in such-and-such battle, while my wife wants to set out for Hajj." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go and perform Hajj with your wife."
