Shaving and Sacrifice – On Clarifying That One Should Start with the Right Side of the Head When Shaving
Hadith Number: 3879
اخبرنا محمد بن إسحاق بن إبراهيم مولى ثقيف، قال: حدثنا ابن ابي عمر العدني ، قال: حدثنا سفيان ، قال: سمعت هشام بن حسان يخبر، عن محمد بن سيرين ، عن ابي سعيد الخدري ، قال: " لما رمى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم الجمرة، ونحر نسكه ناول الحلاق شقه الايمن فحلقه، ثم ناول ابا طلحة الانصاري فاعطاه إياه، ثم ناوله الشق الايسر، فقال: احلقه، فحلقه، فاعطاه ابا طلحة، وقال: اقسمه بين الناس" .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the stoning of the Jamrah and sacrificed his sacrificial animal. Then he extended the right side of his head to the barber, who shaved it. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) gave the hair to Sayyiduna Abu Talhah Al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him). Then he extended the other side to the barber and said: "Shave it." So he shaved it, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) gave that hair also to Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "Distribute it among the people."
