Book of Divorce
باب الرجعة - ذكر البيان بأن المصطفى صلى الله عليه وسلم راجع حفصة من أجل أبيها عمر بن الخطاب-
Chapter: Return – Clarifying that the Prophet (peace be upon him) took Hafsa back for the sake of her father, Umar ibn al-Khattab
Hadith Number: 4276
اخبرنا عبد الله بن احمد بن موسى ، قال: حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله بن نمير ، قال: حدثنا يونس بن بكير ، قال: حدثنا الاعمش ، عن ابي صالح ، عن ابن عمر ، قال: دخل عمر على حفصة وهي تبكي، فقال: ما يبكيك؟ لعل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم طلقك، إنه قد كان طلقك، ثم راجعك من اجلي، فايم الله لئن كان طلقك لا كلمتك كلمة ابدا" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) went to Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) and she was crying. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "Why are you crying? Perhaps the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has divorced you. Even if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has divorced you, because of me he will take you back. By Allah! If the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) divorces you (i.e., such a divorce in which there is no possibility of return), then I would never speak to you."
