Book of Oaths
ذكر البيان بأن المرء مخير عند استثنائه في اليمين بين أن يترك يمينه أو يمضي فيها-
Clarification that one who adds an exception to an oath may choose to fulfill or break it
Hadith Number: 4342
اخبرنا الحسين بن عبد الله القطان ، حدثنا عمر بن يزيد السياري ، حدثنا عبد الوارث بن سعيد ، حدثنا ايوب ، عن نافع ، عن ابن عمر ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " من حلف فاستثنى فهو بالخيار، إن شاء مضى، وإن شاء ترك غير حنث" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever takes an oath and makes an exception, then he has the choice; if he wishes, he may uphold it, and if he wishes, he may abandon it without being sinful."
