Book of Oaths
ذكر الزجر عن أن يحلف المرء بغير الله أو يكون في يمينه غير بار-
Prohibition of swearing by other than Allah or being untruthful in oaths
Hadith Number: 4357
اخبرنا ابو يعلى ، قال: حدثنا عبيد الله بن معاذ بن معاذ ، حدثنا ابي ، قال: حدثنا عوف ، عن ابن سيرين ، عن ابي هريرة ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا تحلفوا بآبائكم، ولا بامهاتكم، ولا بالانداد، ولا تحلفوا إلا بالله، ولا تحلفوا إلا وانتم صادقون" .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not swear by the names of your fathers, your mothers, or by the names of your idols. You should only swear by the name of Allah, and you should only swear when you are truthful."
