Chapter on Caliphate and Leadership - On the permissibility for the leader to have people walk with him when he rides
Hadith Number: 4521
اخبرنا ابن قتيبة ، قال: حدثنا ابن ابي السري ، قال: حدثنا عبد الرزاق ، قال: اخبرنا معمر ، عن ابن شهاب ، قال: اخبرني انس بن مالك ، قال: " دخل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في عمرة القضاء وعبد الله بن رواحة آخذ بغرزه وهو يقول: خلو بني الكفار عن سبيله قد انزل القرآن في تنزيله بان خير القتل في سبيله" .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) went for the Umrah of Qada (i.e., entered Makkah), Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with him) was holding the stirrup of his mount and reciting these verses: "Leave the children of the disbelievers on their way, and in the Qur'an this command has been revealed: the best killing is that which is done in His path."
