Chapter on Caliphate and Leadership - On the permissibility for the leader to request water if he passes by a path and is thirsty
Hadith Number: 4522
اخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان ، حدثنا ابو بكر بن ابي شيبة، حدثنا عبيد الله بن موسى ، عن همام ، عن قتادة ، عن الحسن ، عن جون بن قتادة ، عن سلمة بن المحبق ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، اتى في غزوة تبوك على بيت في فنائه قربة معلقة فاستسقى، فقيل له: إنها ميتة، فقال: " ذكاة الاديم دباغه" .
Sayyiduna Salamah bin Muhabbaq (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came to a house during the expedition of Tabuk, where a water-skin was hanging in a corner. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for water, so it was submitted to him: This (water-skin) is made from the hide of a dead animal. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Tanning purifies the leather.
