Chapter on the Virtue of Jihad - On clarifying that jihad in Allah's cause is the pinnacle of worship
Hadith Number: 4598
اخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان ، حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم الحنظلي ، اخبرنا عبدة بن سليمان ، حدثنا محمد بن عمرو ، حدثنا ابو سلمة، عن ابي هريرة ، عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، انه سئل: اي الاعمال افضل؟ قال:" إيمان بالله ورسوله". قال: ثم اي؟ قال:" الجهاد في سبيل الله سنام العمل". قال: ثم اي؟ قال:" حج مبرور" .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: Which deed is the most virtuous? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: To have faith in Allah and His Messenger. The questioner asked: Then which one? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Striving in the way of Allah is the hump of deeds (i.e., the best of deeds). The questioner asked: Then which one? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: An accepted Hajj.
