باب فضل الجهاد - ذكر البيان بأن القاصد في غزاته شيئا من حطام هذه الدنيا الفانية له مقصوده دون ثواب الآخرة عليه-
Chapter on the Virtue of Jihad - On clarifying that one who seeks worldly gain in fighting gets only that, not the reward of the Hereafter
Hadith Number: 4638
اخبرنا ابو يعلى ، قال: حدثنا عبد الواحد بن غياث ، قال: حدثنا حماد بن سلمة ، عن جبلة بن عطية ، عن يحيى بن الوليد ، عن عبادة بن الصامت ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: " من غزا ولا ينوي في غزاته إلا عقالا، فله ما نوى" . قال ابو حاتم: هذا يحيى بن الوليد بن الصامت ابن اخي عبادة بن الصامت.
Sayyiduna Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever participates in battle, and while participating in battle, his intention is only to obtain a rope, then he will get only that which he intended." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The narrator of this narration, Yahya bin Waleed bin Samit, is the nephew of Sayyiduna Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him).
