Chapter on the Virtue of Jihad - On clarifying that the best jihad is that which ends in martyrdom
Hadith Number: 4639
اخبرنا الفضل بن الحباب الجمحي ، حدثنا محمد بن كثير ، اخبرنا سفيان ، عن الاعمش ، عن ابي سفيان ، عن جابر ، قال: قال رجل: يا رسول الله اي الجهاد افضل؟ قال:" ان يعقر جوادك، ويهراق دمك" .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Which jihad is the most virtuous?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That your horse's legs are cut and your blood is shed."
