باب الخروج وكيفية الجهاد - ذكر البيان بأن صاحب السرية إذا خالف الإمام فيما أمره به كان على القوم أن يعزلوه ويولوا غيره-
Chapter on Setting Out and the Manner of Jihad – Clarifying that if the leader of a detachment disobeys the commander, he should be replaced.
Hadith Number: 4740
اخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان ، حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم الحنظلي ، اخبرنا عبد الصمد بن عبد الوارث ، حدثنا سليمان بن المغيرة ، حدثنا حميد بن هلال العدوي ، حدثنا بشر بن عاصم الليثي ، عن عقبة بن مالك ، قال: وكان من رهطه، قال: بعث رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم سرية فسلح رجلا سيفا، فلما انصرفنا، ما رايت مثل ما لامنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: " اعجزتم إذا امرت عليكم رجلا، فلم يمض لامري الذي امرت، او نهيت ان تجعلوا مكانه آخر يمضي امري الذي امرت" .
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) dispatched an expedition and he gave a man a sword to wear. When we returned, I never saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reproach us for anything as much as he did for this matter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Were you incapable that when I appointed a man as your leader and he did not act upon the command I gave him or refrained from what I forbade him, you could have appointed someone else in his place who would have carried out my command, the command that I had issued?
