باب الخروج وكيفية الجهاد - ذكر الاستحباب للإمام إذا أراد بعث سرية أن يولي عليها أمراء جماعة واحدا بعد الآخر عند قتل الأول-
Chapter on Setting Out and the Manner of Jihad – On the recommendation for the leader to appoint successive commanders over a detachment if the first is killed.
Hadith Number: 4741
اخبرنا احمد بن علي بن المثنى ، قال: حدثنا مصعب بن عبد الله الزبيري ، قال: حدثنا المغيرة بن عبد الرحمن المخزومي ، عن عبد الله بن سعيد بن ابي هند ، عن نافع ، عن ابن عمر ، قال: امر رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في غزوة مؤتة زيد بن حارثة، وقال: " إن قتل زيد، فجعفر، وإن قتل جعفر، فعبد الله بن رواحة" ، قال عبد الله: كنت معهم تلك الغزوة، فالتمسنا جعفر بن ابي طالب، فوجدناه في القتلى، ووجدنا فيما نيل من جسده بضعا وسبعين ضربة ورمية.
Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed Zaid bin Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) as the commander on the occasion of the Battle of Mu'tah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If Zaid is martyred, then Ja'far will be the commander, and if Ja'far is martyred, then Abdullah bin Rawahah will be the commander. Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I was with those people in that battle. We searched for Ja'far bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), and we found him among the slain. We found on his body more than seventy marks of wounds and arrows.
