Chapter on Setting Out and the Manner of Jihad – On the recommendation for the leader to seek God’s help when fighting the enemy.
Hadith Number: 4758
اخبرنا عبد الله بن محمد الازدي ، قال: حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم ، قال: حدثنا سليمان بن حرب ، حدثنا حماد بن سلمة ، عن ثابت البناني ، عن عبد الرحمن بن ابي ليلى ، عن صهيب ، قال: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا صلى ايام حنين همس شيئا، فقيل له: إنك تفعل شيئا لم تكن تفعله، قال: اقول: " اللهم بك احاول، وبك اصاول، وبك اقاتل" .
Sayyiduna Suhaib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was performing prayer at the time of the Battle of Hunayn, he said something in a low voice. It was submitted to him, "You have done something which you had not done before." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "I was reciting this: 'O Allah, with Your help I confront (the enemy), I leap into battle, and with Your help I fight.'"
