Chapter on Setting Out and the Manner of Jihad – On the recommendation to seek victory for Muslims through the Companions and Followers.
Hadith Number: 4768
اخبرنا ابو خليفة ، حدثنا إبراهيم بن بشار الرمادي ، حدثنا سفيان ، عن عمرو بن دينار ، قال: سمعت جابر بن عبد الله ، يقول: حدثنا ابو سعيد ، قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " ياتي على الناس زمان يغزو فيه فئام من الناس، فيقال: من صحب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم؟ فيقال: نعم، فيفتح عليهم، ثم ياتي على الناس زمان يغزو فيه فئام من الناس، فيقال: هل فيكم من صحب اصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم؟ فيقال: نعم، فيفتح لهم، ثم ياتي على الناس زمان يغزو فيه فئام من الناس، فيقال: من صحب اصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم؟ فيقال: نعم، فيفتح لهم" .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) stated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A time will come upon the people when some people will participate in battle, and it will be asked: 'Is there anyone among you who is a companion of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)?' The answer will be: 'Yes!' So those people will be granted victory. Then a time will come upon the people when they will go out for battle, and it will be asked: 'Is there anyone among you who has been with the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)?' The answer will be: 'Yes,' so those people will be granted victory. Then a time will come upon the people when many people will go out for battle, and it will be asked: 'Is there anyone among you who has been with the students of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)?' The answer will be: 'Yes,' so they too will be granted victory."
