Clarification That the Prophet Named This Act as Deceit
Hadith Number: 5511
اخبرنا عمر بن محمد الهمداني ، قال: حدثنا بندار ، قال: حدثنا محمد ، قال: حدثنا شعبة ، عن عمرو بن مرة ، عن سعيد بن المسيب ، قال: قدم معاوية المدينة، فخطبنا، واخرج كبة من شعر، وقال: " ما كنت ارى احدا يفعله، إلا اليهود، إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بلغه، فسماه الزور" .
Saeed bin Musayyib narrates: Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Madinah Munawwarah and delivered a sermon to us. He took out a bundle of artificial hair and said: I think that only the Jews do this act. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed about this, so he called it deception.
