Chapter on Etiquette of Sleep – On entrusting oneself to Allah before sleep
Hadith Number: 5542
اخبرنا الفضل بن الحباب ، قال: حدثنا ابو الوليد ، قال: حدثنا شعبة ، قال: حدثني ابو الحسن عبيد بن الحسن ، قال: سمعت البراء ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، انه كان إذا اخذ مضجعه، قال:" اللهم إني اسلمت نفسي إليك، ووجهت وجهي إليك، وفوضت امري إليك، رغبة ورهبة إليك، لا ملجا ولا منجا منك إلا إليك" .
Sayyiduna Bara bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that when he would lie down on his bed, he would recite this: "O Allah! I have submitted myself to You. I have turned my face towards You. I have entrusted my affair to You. With desire and fear, there is no refuge and no escape from You except to You."
