Section on Torture – On the prohibition of beating any Muslim except as allowed by the Quran and Sunnah
Hadith Number: 5603
اخبرنا احمد بن علي بن المثنى ، قال: حدثنا ابو بكر بن ابي شيبة ، قال: حدثنا عمر بن عبيد ، عن الاعمش ، عن ابي وائل ، عن عبد الله ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " اجيبوا الداعي، ولا تردوا الهدية، ولا تضربوا المسلمين" ، قال ابو حاتم: عمر، ويعلى، ومحمد، بنو عبيد الطنافسي، كوفيون ثقات.
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Accept invitations, do not return gifts, and do not beat Muslims." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The narrators named Umar, Ya'la, and Muhammad are all sons of Ubaid Tanafi; they are residents of Kufa and are trustworthy.
