Chapter on Names and Nicknames – The Prophet’s intention to prohibit naming someone“Maymoon”
Hadith Number: 5842
اخبرنا ابن قتيبة ، حدثنا يزيد بن موهب ، حدثنا المفضل بن فضالة ، عن ابن جريج ، عن ابي الزبير ، انه سمع جابر بن عبد الله، يقول: " هم النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ان يزجر ان يسمى ميمون، وبركة، وافلح وهذا النحو، ثم تركه" .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) intended to prohibit naming with Maymun, Barakah, Aflah, or any other similar name, but then he (peace be upon him) abandoned this intention.
