Chapter on Names and Nicknames – The Prophet’s intention to prohibit naming someone“Rabah”or“Najeeh”
Hadith Number: 5841
اخبرنا ابو عروبة ، حدثنا عبدة بن عبد الله ، حدثنا ابو احمد ، حدثنا سفيان ، عن ابي الزبير ، عن جابر ، قال: قال عمر: لئن عشت لاخرجن اليهود من جزيرة العرب، قال: وقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لئن عشت لانهين ان يسمى برباح، ونجيح، وافلح، ويسار" .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If I remain alive, I will expel the Jews from the Arabian Peninsula. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) stated: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If I remain alive, I will prohibit people from naming their children Rabah, Najeeh, Aflah, and Yasar.
