Section on Retaliation - Refuting those who claim Shu‘bah did not hear this from Qatadah
Hadith Number: 5999
اخبرنا محمد بن عبد الرحمن السامي ، قال: حدثنا علي بن الجعد ، قال: اخبرنا شعبة ، عن قتادة ، قال: سمعت زرارة بن اوفى يحدث، عن عمران بن حصين ، ان رجلا عض يد رجل، فقال بيده هكذا، فنزعها من فيه، فوقعت ثنيتاه، فاختصموا إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال صلى الله عليه وسلم: " يعض احدكم اخاه كما يعض الفحل؟! لا دية لك" .
Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man bit another man’s hand, and he indicated with his hand: like this. The other man pulled his hand out of his mouth, and his front teeth fell out. So they brought their case to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Does one of you bite his brother’s hand like a camel bites? You will not receive any compensation (diyah).
