باب كَرَاهَةِ الصَّلاَةِ بِحَضْرَةِ الطَّعَامِ الَّذِي يُرِيدُ أَكْلَهُ فِي الْحَالِ وَكَرَاهَةِ الصَّلاَةِ مَعَ مُدَافَعَةِ الأَخْبَثَيْنِ.
Chapter: It is disliked to offer salat in the presence of food that one wants to eat. It is disliked to offer salat while restraining the urge to relieve oneself, and so on

اخبرني عمرو الناقد ، وزهير بن حرب ، وابو بكر بن ابي شيبة ، قالوا: حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة ، عن الزهري ، عن انس بن مالك ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: " إذا حضر العشاء، واقيمت الصلاة، فابدءوا بالعشاء ".
Anas bin Malik (RA) reported the Apostle of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) saying: When the supper is brought and the prayer begins, one, should first take food.

حدثنا هارون بن سعيد الايلي ، حدثنا ابن وهب ، اخبرني عمرو ، عن ابن شهاب ، قال: حدثني انس بن مالك ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: " إذا قرب العشاء، وحضرت الصلاة، فابدءوا به قبل ان تصلوا صلاة المغرب، ولا تعجلوا عن عشائكم ".
Anas bin Malik (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: When the supper is brought before you, and it is also the time to say prayer, first take food before saying evening prayer and do not hasten (to prayer, leaving aside the food).

Ibn 'Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: When the supper is served to any one of you and the prayer also begins. (in such a case) first take supper, and do not make haste (for prayer) till you have (taken the food).

حدثنا محمد بن عباد ، حدثنا حاتم هو ابن إسماعيل ، عن يعقوب بن مجاهد ، عن ابن ابي عتيق ، قال: تحدثت انا والقاسم عند عائشة رضي الله عنها حديثا، وكان القاسم رجلا لحانة، وكان لام ولد، فقالت له عائشة: ما لك، لا تحدث كما يتحدث ابن اخي هذا؟ اما إني قد علمت، من اين اتيت هذا، ادبته امه، وانت، ادبتك امك؟ قال: فغضب القاسم واضب عليها، فلما راى مائدة عائشة، قد اتي بها، قام قالت: اين؟ قال: اصلي، قالت: اجلس؟ قال: إني اصلي، قالت: اجلس غدر، إني سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، يقول:" لا صلاة بحضرة الطعام، ولا هو يدافعه الاخبثان"،
Ibn Atiq reported: Al-Qasim was in the presence of 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) that I narrated a hadith and Qasim was a man who committed errors in (pronouncing words) and his mother was a freed slave-girl. 'A'isha said to him: What is the matter with you that you do not narrate as this son of my brother narrated (the ahadith)? Well I know from where you picked it up. This is how his mother brought him up and how your mother brought you up. Qasim felt angry (on this remark of Hadrat 'A'isha) and showed bitterness towards her. When he saw that the table had been spread for 'A'isha, he stood up, 'A'isha, said: Where are you going? He said: (I am going) to say prayer. She said: Sit down (to take the food). He said: I must say prayer. She said: Sit down,) faithless, for I have heard the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) say: No prayer can be (rightly said) when the food is there (before the worshipper), or when he is prompted by the call of nature.

'Abdullah bin 'Atiq narrated from the Apostle ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) on the authority of 'A'isha, but he made no mention of the account of Qasim.

باب نَهْيِ مَنْ أَكَلَ ثُومًا أَوْ بَصَلاً أَوْ كُرَّاثًا أَوْ نَحْوَهَا عَنْ حُضُورِ الْمَسْجِدِ:
Chapter: Prohibiting one who has eaten garlic, onions, or leeks, and other things that have an offensive odor from coming to the masjid, until that smell has gone away, and such a person should be expelled from the masjid

حدثنا محمد بن المثنى ، وزهير بن حرب ، قالا: حدثنا يحيى وهو القطان ، عن عبيد الله ، قال: اخبرني نافع ، عن ابن عمر ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال في غزوة خيبر: " من اكل من هذه الشجرة، يعني الثوم، فلا ياتين المساجد "، قال زهير في غزوة: ولم يذكر خيبر.
Ibn 'Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: He who eats of this (offensive) plant must not approach our mosque, till its odour dies: (plant signifies) garlic.

وحدثني زهير بن حرب ، حدثنا إسماعيل يعني ابن علية ، عن عبد العزيز وهو ابن صهيب ، قال: سئل انس عن الثوم، فقال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " من اكل من هذه الشجرة، فلا يقربنا، ولا يصلي معنا ".
Ibn Suhaib reported: Anas was asked about the garlic; he stated that the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) had said: He who eats of this plant (garlic) should not approach us and pray along with us.
