حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا الزهري ، قال: اخبرني علي بن حسين ، عن عمرو بن عثمان بن عفان ، عن اسامة بن زيد ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا يرث المسلم الكافر، ولا الكافر المسلم" .
Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "A Muslim will not inherit from a disbeliever, and a disbeliever will not inherit from a Muslim."

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا الزهري ، قال: اخبرني عروة بن الزبير , انه سمع اسامة بن زيد ، يقول: اشرف رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم على اطم من آطام المدينة، فقال: " هل ترون ما ارى؟ إني لارى الفتن تقع خلال بيوتكم كمواقع القطر" .
Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked into a house in Madinah and said: "Do you see what I am seeing? I see tribulations falling upon your homes like the falling of raindrops."

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا هشام بن عروة كم مرة لا احصيه لا اعده، قال: اخبرني ابي ، قال:" سئل اسامة بن زيد وانا إلى جنبه، وكان ردف رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من عرفة حتى اتى المزدلفة، كيف كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يسير حين دفع؟ قال: كان يسير العنق؟ فإذا وجد فجوة نص" . قال سفيان: قال هشام: والنص فوق العنق.
Hisham bin Urwah narrates from his father: Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked—I was present beside him at that time—he had remained seated with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) on the ride from Arafah to Muzdalifah. (The question was:) When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) set out, at what pace did he travel? He replied: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) traveled at a moderate pace, but when an elevation came, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would increase his speed a little. Sufyan has narrated this statement of Hisham: The word "nas" is used for a pace that is slightly faster than "anaq."

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا عمرو بن دينار ، قال: سمعت عامر بن سعد بن ابي وقاص ، قال: جاء رجل إلى سعد يساله عن الطاعون وعنده اسامة بن زيد ، فقال اسامة: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول:" هو عذاب او رجز ارسل على اناس ممن كان قبلكم، او على طائفة من بني إسرائيل فهو يجيء احيانا، ويذهب احيانا، فإذا وقع بارض وانتم بها فلا تخرجوا منها فرارا منه، وإذا سمعتم به في ارض فلا تدخلوها" ، فقال عمرو: فلعله لقوم عذاب او رجز ولقوم شهادة. قال سفيان: فاعجبني قول عمرو هذا.
‘Aamir bin Sa’d narrates: A man came to ask Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) about the plague, and at that time Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) was also present. Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say:“It is a punishment (the narrator is unsure, perhaps these are the words), it is a penalty, which was sent to some people before you. (The narrator is unsure, perhaps these are the words) It was sent to a group of Bani Israel, so sometimes it comes and sometimes it goes. So when it occurs in a land where you are present, do not leave that place fleeing from it, and when you hear about it in a place, do not enter that place.”The narrator named ‘Amr says: It may be a punishment and sin for some people and martyrdom for another people. Sufyan says: I liked this statement of ‘Amr very much.

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثني عبيد الله بن ابي يزيد ، قال: سمعت ابن عباس ، يقول: اخبرني اسامة بن زيد ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " الربا في النسيئة" . قال ابو بكر: كان سفيان ربما لم يرفعه؟ فقيل له في ذلك؟ فقال: اتقيه احيانا لكراهية الصرف؟ فاما مرفوع فهو مرفوع.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) informed me of this, that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Trade is done on credit." Abu Bakr Humaydi (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Sufyan sometimes does not narrate this hadith as a 'marfu'' (attributed directly to the Prophet). When he was asked about this, he replied: Sometimes I refrain from narrating this report due to my dislike of 'bay' sarf' (exchange of currency), but as for the 'marfu'' narration, it is indeed 'marfu'.

حدثنا سفيان ، ومروان بن معاوية قالا: حدثنا سليمان التيمي ، عن ابي عثمان النهدي ، عن اسامة بن زيد ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " ما تركت بعدي على امتي، فتنة اضر على الرجال من النساء" .
Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I have not left any trial for my ummah more severe for men than women."

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا الاعمش ، قال: سمعت ابا وائل ، يقول: قيل لاسامة بن زيد : الا تكلم عثمان؟ فقال: ترون اني لا اكلمه إلا اسمعكم؟ إني لاكلمه دون ان افتح بابا اكون اول من فتحه، ثم قال: اما إني لا اقول لرجل إن كان علي اميرا انه خير الناس بعد شيء، سمعته من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: " يؤتى برجل كان واليا، فيلقى في النار، فتندلق اقتابه، فيدور في النار كما يدور الحمار بالرحا، فيجمع إليه اهل النار، فيقولون: الست كنت تامر بالمعروف، وتنهانا عن المنكر؟ فيقول: كنت آمركم بالمعروف ولا آتيه، وانهاكم عن المنكر وآتيه" .
Abu Wa’il narrates: It was said to Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with them): Will you not speak with Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him)? So he replied: Do you think that when I speak with him, I will do so in a way that you will hear it? Rather, I will speak with him, but in such a way that I will not be the first person to open any door. Then Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with them) said: I heard something from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so after that I do not say about any person who is my leader that he is the best. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:“(On the Day of Resurrection) a man will be brought who was a ruler in the world, and he will be thrown into Hell, and his intestines will come out of his place, and he will circle in Hell as a donkey circles around a millstone. Then the people of Hell will gather around him and say: Did you not used to command us to do good? And did you not forbid us from evil? He will say: I used to command you to do good, but I did not do it myself. And I used to forbid you from evil, but I used to commit it myself.”

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا إبراهيم بن عقبة ، ومحمد بن ابي حرملة ، قال سفيان: قال احدهما: اخبرني كريب ، عن ابن عباس، عن اسامة ، وقال الآخر: اخبرني كريب ، عن اسامة ، وكان ردف رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من عرفة حتى اتى المزدلفة، قال: دفعت مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من عرفة فلما اتى الشعب نزل، فبال ولم يقل هراق الماء، ثم آتيته بالإداوة، فتوضا وضوءا خفيفا، فقلت: الصلاة يا رسول الله؟ قال: الصلاة امامكم"، فلما اتى جمعا صلى صلاة المغرب، ثم حطوا رحالهم ثم صلى العشاء . قال سفيان: لم يختلف إبراهيم بن عقبة ومحمد في شيء من هذا الحديث، إلا ان ذا قال كريب , عن اسامة , وقال: هذا كريب، عن ابن عباس، عن اسامة".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates regarding Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with them both): From ‘Arafah to Muzdalifah, Sayyiduna Usamah was seated behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the mount. He narrates: I set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from ‘Arafah. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the valley, he dismounted. There he urinated. The narrator did not mention the pouring of water. Then I brought a vessel to him and he performed a brief ablution. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Will you pray? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“The prayer will be ahead.”Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Muzdalifah, where he performed the Maghrib prayer, then the people unloaded their saddles. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the ‘Isha prayer. Sufyan says: Ibrahim bin ‘Uqbah and a narrator named Muhammad have differed in some aspect of this narration; one narrator says: This is transmitted from Sayyiduna Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him) through Kuraib, while the other says: It is transmitted from Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) through Kuraib from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both).
