باب بَيَانِ أَنَّ الدُّخُولَ فِي الصَّوْمِ يَحْصُلُ بِطُلُوعِ الْفَجْرِ وَأَنَّ لَهُ الأَكْلَ وَغَيْرَهُ حَتَّى يَطْلُعَ الْفَجْرُ وَبَيَانِ صِفَةِ الْفَجْرِ الَّذِي تَتَعَلَّقُ بِهِ الأَحْكَامُ مِنَ الدُّخُولِ فِي الصَّوْمِ وَدُخُولِ وَقْتِ صَلاَةِ الصُّبْحِ وَغَيْرِ ذَلِكَ:
Chapter: Clarifying that fasting begins at dawn, and a person may eat and other than that until dawn begins; And clarifying the dawn which has to do with the rulings concerning the beginning of fasting and the beginning of the time for the Subh Prayer, and other than that, which is the Second Dawn, which is called the True Dawn. The First Dawn, which is the False Dawn, has nothing to do with the rulings

وحدثنا زهير بن حرب ، حدثنا إسماعيل ابن علية ، حدثني عبد الله بن سوادة ، عن ابيه ، عن سمرة بن جندب رضي الله عنه، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا يغرنكم اذان بلال، ولا هذا البياض لعمود، الصبح حتى يستطير هكذا ".
ahadeeth bin Jundub reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) as saying: The Adhan of Bilal (RA) should not mislead you nor the whiteness (of the pillar) of dawn, for it is not the whiteness of the true dawn, but that of the false dawn which is vertical like a pillar and you can eat food till the streaks of whiteness spread like it.

وحدثني ابو الربيع الزهراني ، حدثنا حماد يعني ابن زيد ، حدثنا عبد الله بن سوادة القشيري ، عن ابيه ، عن سمرة بن جندب رضي الله عنه، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا يغرنكم من سحوركم اذان بلال، ولا بياض الافق المستطيل هكذا، حتى يستطير هكذا "، وحكاه حماد بيديه، قال: يعني معترضا.
ahadeeth bin Jundub (RA) reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) as saying: The Adhan of Bilal (RA) may not mislead you with regard to your food at the commencement of the fast, nor the vertical (streaks) of whiteness in the horizon (for it is an indication of false dawn). You should stop eating (food) till (the whiteness) spreads like it. Hammad narrated it and with the gesture of his hand he explained, the horizontal position (of the streaks of light).

ahadeeth bin Jundub addressed and narrated from the Apostle of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) having said (these words): Neither the call of Bilal (RA) should mislead you nor this whiteness (of false dawn) till (the true) dawn appears (or he said) till the dawn breaks.

Chapter: The virtue of sahur, which is recommended. It is recommended to delay it and to hasten the breaking of the fast

'Amr bin al-'As reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) as saying: The difference between our fasting and that of the people of the Book is eating shortly before dawn.

Zaid bin Thabit (RA) said: We took meal shortly before dawn along with the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) . We then stood up for prayer. I said: How much span of time was there between the two (acts, i. e. taking of Sahri and observing of prayer)? He said (a span of reciting) fifty verses.

Sahl bin Sa'd (RA) repotted Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) as saying: The people will continue to prosper as long as they hasten the breaking of the fast.
