Ibn Abbas (RA) reported Allah's Apostle ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) as saying: One who gets back the gift is like one who eats vomit.

Ibn Abbas (RA) reported Allah's Apostle ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) as saying: One who gets back the gift is like one who eats vomit.

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Qatada with the same chain of transmitters.

Abdullah bin Tawus reported on the authority of his father who reported from Ibn Abas (RA) who reported from Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) that he said: One who gets back his gift is like a dog which vomits and then swallows that vomit.

Nu'man bin Bashir reported that his father brought him to Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) and said: I have donated this slave of mine to my son. Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: Have you donated to every one of your sons (a slave) like this? He said: No. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (may peace he upon him) said: Then take him back.

Nu'man bin Bashir reported: My father brought me to Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) and said: I have donated this slave to my son, whereupon he said: Have you made (such) donation to every one of your sons? He said: No. Thereupon he (the-Holy Prophet) said: Then take him back.

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Zuhri with different chains of transmitters and a slight variation of words.

Nu'man bin Bashir reported that his father had donated a slave to him. Allah's Apostle ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) (may peace he upon him) said: Who is this slave (how have you come to possess it)? Thereupon he (Nu'man bin Bashir) said: My father has donated it to me, whereupon he said: Have all brothers (of yours) been given this gift as given to you? He said: No. Then he (the Holy Prophet) said: Then return him.

Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, 'Abbad ibn al-'Awwam narrated to us, from Husayn, from al-Sha'bi, who said: I heard al-Nu'man ibn Bashir.

And Yahya ibn Yahya narrated to us (and the wording is his), he informed us, Abu al-Ahwas, from Husayn, from al-Sha'bi, from al-Nu'man ibn Bashir, who said:

"My father gave me a gift from his wealth, and my mother, Amrah bint Rawahah, said: 'I am not pleased until you make the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, a witness.' So my father went to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, to make him a witness to my gift. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: 'Did you do this for all your children?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'Fear Allah and be just among your children.' So my father returned and took back that gift."

Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Ali ibn Mushir narrated to us, from Abu Hayyan, from al-Sha‘bi, from al-Nu‘man ibn Bashir.
And Muhammad ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Numayr narrated to us (and the wording is his), Muhammad ibn Bishr narrated to us, Abu Hayyan al-Taymi narrated to us, from al-Sha‘bi, al-Nu‘man ibn Bashir narrated to me:
“That my mother, the daughter of Rawaha, asked my father for some gift from his wealth for her son, but he delayed with her for a year, then it occurred to him (to do so). She said: ‘I will not be satisfied until you make the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, witness to what you have given to my son.’ So my father took me by the hand while I was a boy at that time, and he came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, the mother of this one, the daughter of Rawaha, liked that I make you witness to what I have given to her son.’
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‘O Bashir, do you have any children other than this one?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘Did you give all of them a gift like this?’ He said: ‘No.’ He said: ‘Then do not make me a witness, for I do not bear witness to injustice.’”
