Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that my beloved friend (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) advised me regarding three things, which I will never abandon, insha’Allah. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) advised me to perform the Duha prayer, to perform Witr before sleeping, and to fast three days every month.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that my beloved friend ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) advised me regarding three things: to fast three days every month, to perform Witr before sleeping, and to offer two units of Duha (forenoon) prayer.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that my friend and beloved (Prophet) صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم advised me regarding three things, which I will never abandon: that I should sleep after performing Witr prayer, that I should not leave two rak‘ahs of Duha prayer because that is the prayer of the oft-returning (to Allah), and he advised me to fast three days every month.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Only an awwab (one who repents much) can maintain and be diligent in the Duha prayer, and he said: And this is the prayer of the awwabeen." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that no narrator has followed up Sheikh Ismail bin Abdullah in narrating this report as a connected narration. This narration has been reported by Darawardi from Muhammad bin Amr, from Sayyiduna Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) as a mursal narration, and Hammad bin Salamah has also narrated it from Muhammad bin Amr as a statement of Sayyiduna Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) (i.e., he has narrated it as mawquf).

And the statement that two rak'ahs of Duha suffice for the charity that is obligatory every day upon the human joints.

Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: "When any one of you wakes up in the morning, charity is due on every joint of his body. So, every utterance of 'La ilaha illallah' «‏‏‏‏لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ» ‏‏‏‏, every 'Alhamdulillah' «‏‏‏‏الحَمْدُ لِلَٰهِ» ‏‏‏‏, every 'Allahu Akbar' «‏‏‏‏اللَٰهُ أَكْبَرُ» ‏‏‏‏, and every 'Subhanallah' «‏‏‏‏سُبْحَانَ اللهِ» ‏‏‏‏ becomes charity. Enjoining good and forbidding evil also becomes charity. And all of these are sufficed by offering two rak‘ahs of Duha (forenoon) prayer."

And the two rak'ahs of Duha suffice for the obligatory charity due on these joints.

Sayyiduna Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "There are three hundred and sixty joints in the human body. It is obligatory upon him to give charity for each joint." He (Buraidah) asked, "O Messenger of Allah, who has the ability to give so much charity?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bury the phlegm lying in the mosque or remove something harmful from the path. If you are unable to do even this, then two rak‘ahs of Duha (forenoon) prayer will suffice for you."

Zaid bin Arqam narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came upon a group of people while they were performing the Duha prayer in the Quba Mosque after the sun had risen. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The prayer of the Awabeen should be performed at the time when the young camel feels the heat." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) also narrated a similar hadith from Zaid bin Arqam through another chain of transmission.

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performing eight rak‘ahs of the Duha prayer during a journey. When he completed the prayer and turned (to us), he said: "I have performed this prayer out of fear and hope. I asked my Lord for three things—He granted me two and withheld one. The first thing I asked was that Allah not destroy my Ummah through famine; Allah accepted this supplication. The second thing I asked my Lord was that He not give dominance over my Ummah to their enemies; Allah did so (i.e., accepted the supplication). The third thing I asked was that Allah not divide them into different sects, but this was denied to me by Allah." The words of Ahmad bin Abdur Rahman are: "O Allah, do not test my Ummah with famine."
