Narrated Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them): His maternal aunt Umm Hufaid (may Allah be pleased with her) sent to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as gifts some cheese, ghee, and a monitor lizard (saanah). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate from the cheese and ghee, but left the monitor lizard because he did not like it. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said: The monitor lizard was eaten on the table of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and if it had been forbidden, it would not have been eaten on the table of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that at a place called Marr az-Zahran, we chased a hare. People ran after it and tired it out, and I reached close and caught it. Then I brought it to Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him). He slaughtered it and sent the meat from its back or both of its thighs to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Later, Shu’bah said with certainty that it was both thighs that were sent. There is no doubt about it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted it. And did he (peace and blessings be upon him) eat from it?

Hazrat Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a person throwing pebbles, so he said: "Do not throw pebbles, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade throwing pebbles, or (he stated that) the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not like throwing pebbles, and said that neither can hunting be done with it nor can any harm be caused to the enemy. However, it may break someone's tooth or injure an eye." After that, he again saw that person throwing pebbles, so he said: "I am narrating to you the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he forbade throwing pebbles or disliked throwing pebbles, and you are still throwing them.
