Chapter: "By those sent forth in succession"
Hadith Number: 8816
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): The command of Allah Almighty is: { لَا تُحَرِّکْ بِہِ لِسَانَکَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِہِ} … (O Prophet) Do not move your tongue to hasten to memorize the Qur’an. When the Qur’an was being revealed, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would exert himself greatly; among these efforts was that he would move his lips. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I move my lips in the same way as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to move them. Sa‘id said: I also move my lips as Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to move them. Then Allah Almighty revealed this verse: {لَا تُحَرِّکْ بِہِ لِسَانَکَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِہِ إِنَّ عَلَیْنَا جَمْعَہُ وَقُرْآنَہُ} … (O Prophet) Do not move your tongue to hasten to memorize the Qur’an; its collection and your recitation of it is Our responsibility. That is, gathering the Qur’an in your blessed chest and your reciting it, {فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَاہُ فَاتَّبِعْ قُرْآنَہُ} … When We have recited it, then follow its recitation. So listen and remain silent, { ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَیْنَا بَیَانَہُ} … Then its clarification is Our responsibility. Then, when Jibril (peace be upon him) would depart, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite that revelation just as Jibril had recited it.

(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), he says: When the Noble Qur’an was being revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), he would memorize it (and with this intention, he would move his tongue quickly along with it), so Allah Almighty said: {لَا تُحَرِّکْ بِہِ لِسَانَکَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِہِ إِنَّ عَلَیْنَا جَمْعَہُ وَقُرْآنَہُ۔ فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَاہُ فَاتَّبِعْ قُرْآنَہُ۔} … (O Prophet) Do not move your tongue quickly to memorize the Qur’an; its collection and its recitation upon your tongue is Our responsibility. When We have recited it, then follow its recitation.

Surah At-Takwir
Hadith Number: 8817
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that we were with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the Cave of Hira, and Surah Al-Mursalat was revealed to him. I received this Surah from the blessed mouth of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), while his blessed mouth was moist with it. I do not know whether the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) concluded this Surah with this verse {فَبِأَ یِّ حَدِیثٍ بَعْدَہُ یُؤْمِنُونَ} or with this {وَاِذَا قِیلَ لَہُمْ ارْکَعُوْا لَا یَرْکَعُونَ}. Meanwhile, a snake appeared and entered a hole. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You have been protected from its harm and it has been saved from your harm.

(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: Surah Al-Mursalat was revealed to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the night of the snake. We asked: O Abu Abdur Rahman! What is meant by the night of the snake? He said: Once we were with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the cave of Hira, a snake came out from the mountain, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered us to kill it, we chased after it, but it overpowered us. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Now leave it, Allah has saved it from your harm and you from its harm.

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever is called to account on the Day of Resurrection will be punished. I (Aisha) said: Has Allah Almighty not said {فَسَوْفَ یُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا یَسِیرًا} … soon his account will be taken easily? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This does not mean reckoning; it is only the presentation of deeds. Whoever is called to account on the Day of Resurrection will certainly be punished.
