It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that I, along with the people of my tribe, reached the service of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) three days after the conquest of Khaybar. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave us a share from the spoils of war. The spoils of Khaybar were distributed only among the people of Hudaybiyyah, and we were the only ones who, despite not having participated in Hudaybiyyah, received a share from the spoils of Khaybar.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, returned from Khaybar. When he, peace and blessings be upon him, saw the mountain of Uhud, he said: This is a mountain; it loves us and we love it. Then when he, peace and blessings be upon him, approached near Madinah Munawwarah, he said: O Allah! Just as Ibrahim, peace be upon him, declared Makkah a sanctuary, likewise I declare the area between the two Harrahs of Madinah Munawwarah a sanctuary.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We set out in the company of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr bin Abi Quhafa (may Allah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had appointed him as our leader. We intended to attack the tribe of Fazarah. When we reached near the water of our destination, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered us, and we rested for a while in the last part of the night. When we performed the Fajr prayer, we launched a sudden attack by the order of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), and we killed many people near that water. Sayyiduna Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Then I saw a group of people heading towards the mountain, among them were women and children. I started running after them, fearing that they would reach the mountain before me, so I shot arrows at them which fell between them and the mountain. Then I captured those people and brought them to Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) near the water. Among them was a woman from Banu Fazarah, who had an old leather sheet over her, and with her was her daughter, who was one of the most beautiful girls among the Arabs. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) granted her daughter to me as an extra share. I did not have any relations with her until we reached Madinah Munawwarah, and the night passed in the same way. When I met the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the market, he said: O Salamah! Gift that woman to me. I said: O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, she is very dear to me, but I have not even lifted her garment yet. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent and left me. The next day, when you met me again in the market, you (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Salamah! May your father be blessed, gift that woman to me. I said: O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, she is very dear to me, and I have not yet lifted her garment. O Messenger of Allah! Now she is for you. There were some Muslim prisoners with the people of Makkah, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent that woman to the people of Makkah as ransom for those Muslims.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jundub bin Makith Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) sent Sayyiduna Ghalib bin Abdullah Kalbi Laithi (may Allah be pleased with him) to attack the tribe of Banu Muluh, who were residing at the place of Kudayd. So he set out, and I was also included in that army. As we were traveling, when we reached the place of Kudayd, we encountered Harith bin Malik bin Barsaa Laithi. We captured him. He said: I have come to accept Islam. Sayyiduna Ghalib bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If you have come with the intention of accepting Islam, then a day's and night's imprisonment will not harm you, and if you have some other plan, we will investigate about it. So Sayyiduna Ghalib (may Allah be pleased with him) imprisoned him and appointed a black man who was with us to guard him, and said: Stay with him until we return, and if he quarrels with you, cut off his head. After that, we set out from there and reached the middle of Kudayd, and after Asr we camped at Ashishiyah. My companions assigned me the duty of keeping watch. I went towards a mound from where I could see the people present here and there. I lay down on the mound. The time of Maghrib had come. One of them came out, and when he saw me lying on the mound, he said to his wife: I see a figure on the mound which I did not see during the day. Be careful, could it be a dog? And have your utensils not been taken? She looked around and said: By Allah! I do not find anything missing. He said: Well, bring me two arrows from my bow and quiver. She brought him the arrows and the bow. He shot an arrow at me and it stuck in my side. I pulled it out and put it aside, and did not move at all. He shot a second arrow and it stuck in the upper part of my shoulder. I pulled it out and put it aside, and did not move at all. He said to his wife: By Allah! Both my arrows have hit him. If it were a living thing, it would surely have moved. In the morning, look for both my arrows and do not let them be left for the dogs. We gave those people respite until their animals returned home in the evening, and they milked the animals and settled in their places and part of the night passed. Then we attacked them. We killed as many of them as we could and took the animals and set off. And we returned. Meanwhile, cries and shouts began to rise from those people as if someone was calling for help. We kept moving quickly until we reached Harith bin Barsaa and his companion. We took them along with us. The cries and shouts of the people were reaching us. The situation became such that we did not have the courage to face it. Until there remained only a valley between us and them, suddenly a strong flood came between them and us. Allah Almighty sent it from wherever He willed. Before its arrival, we had neither seen rain nor clouds. The flood was so strong that no man could stand before it. We saw the people of Banu Muluh standing helplessly on the other side of the flood, looking towards us. None of them had the courage to advance, and we were crossing it quickly. Until we reached along with it to Jabal Mushallal. After that, we turned aside and took another route. The spoils of war that we had obtained from those people, we made them unable to recover it from us.

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set out with the intention of performing Umrah, the disbelievers of Quraysh came between him and the House of Allah. There, at the place of Hudaybiyyah, he sacrificed his sacrificial camels, shaved his head, and made a treaty with them, in which it was agreed that he would come the following year to perform Umrah and would not take up arms against the Quraysh of Makkah. The Muslims would only have swords with them, and they would stay in Makkah only for as many days as the Quraysh permitted. Accordingly, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came the next year and performed Umrah. As per the agreement, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered Makkah. When three days had passed, the Quraysh demanded that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) depart, so he left from there.

عن عبد الله بن ابي اوفى رضي الله عنه قال كنا مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم حين اعتمر فطاف وطفنا معه وصلى وصلينا معه وسعى بين الصفا والمروة وكنا نستره من اهل مكة لا يصيبه احد بشيء زاد في رواية قال فسمعته يدعو على الاحزاب يقول {اللهم منزل الكتاب سريع الحساب هازم الاحزاب اللهم اهزمهم وزلزلهم}
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Umrah, we were with him. When he performed Tawaf, we also performed Tawaf with him. When he offered prayer, we also prayed with him. And when he performed Sa’i between Safa and Marwah, we also performed Sa’i with him. We stayed around him, defending him from the people of Makkah, so that none of the people of Makkah could harm him. I heard him supplicating against the enemy groups of Islam:“O Allah! Revealer of the Book, Swift in reckoning, Defeater of the confederates, O Allah, defeat them and shake them.”(O Allah! The One who revealed the Book, the One who takes account swiftly, the One who defeats all groups, O Allah, defeat them and shake them.)

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the occasion of ‘Umrah al-Qada, when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Makkah Mukarramah, (after the appointed time had passed) the Quraysh of Makkah came to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: Tell your companion (the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him) that the appointed time has ended, therefore he should depart from here. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) departed from Makkah Mukarramah.

It is narrated from Abu Tufail that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) stated that on the occasion of the Umrah of Qada, when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the place of Marraz-Zahran, the companions heard that the Quraysh were talking about the weakness of the Muslims’ bodies. So the companions suggested,“If we slaughter some of our camels and eat their meat and make broth to drink, then when we appear before them, we will look well-fed and healthy.”The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,“Do not do that, rather gather your provisions in one place.”The companions gathered all the food in one place, spread out leather mats, and everyone ate until they were full, and each one filled his own bag with food as well. After that, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Masjid al-Haram, while the Quraysh were sitting towards the side of the Hijr (Hatim). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed idtiba’ with his cloak (i.e., during tawaf, he passed the middle part of his cloak under his right armpit and placed both ends over his left shoulder, thus exposing his right shoulder; this act is called idtiba’). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,“Let not these Quraysh feel any weakness in you.”Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) touched the Black Stone and began the tawaf with ramal (brisk walking), until when he reached the Yemeni Corner and was out of sight of the Quraysh, he walked normally up to the Black Stone. When the Quraysh saw their condition, they said,“These people are not content with walking normally during tawaf, rather they are leaping and skipping like deer.”The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ramal in three circuits (and walked normally between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone), thus this act became a Sunnah. Abu Tufail says: Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) informed me that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also performed this act during the Farewell Hajj.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and the noble Companions came to Makkah Mukarramah on the occasion of the compensatory ‘Umrah, the condition of the Muslims was such that the fever of Yathrib had weakened them. Because of this, the polytheists said: Such people are coming to you whom the fever of Yathrib has weakened. Allah Almighty informed the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) of this matter, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the Companions to perform ramal (brisk walking) during tawaf. The polytheists, sitting towards the side of Hatim, were watching the Muslims. The Muslims performed ramal, but between Rukn Yamani and Hajar Aswad, they walked at a normal pace. Seeing this situation, the polytheists said: These are the very people about whom you were saying that the fever has weakened them; they are indeed very strong. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ramal only in the first three circuits and not afterwards. Out of compassion for the Muslims, he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not order running in all the circuits.
