It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of the companion of the Qur'an (the memorizer) is like that of a man whose camels are tied; if he takes care of them, he will keep them under control, and if he lets them go, the camels will run away."

Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with both of them) said (in Madinah) from the pulpit: O people! Whomever Allah gives, there is no one who can withhold, and whomever Allah withholds from, there is no one who can give, and the greatness of any person does not benefit him. Whomever Allah intends good for, He grants him understanding of the religion (fiqh). Then he said that I heard these words from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on this very pulpit.

And with this same chain (it is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl, may Allah be pleased with him) that a woman came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: O Messenger of Allah! I offer myself to you. Then she stood for a long time, so a man stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah! If you have no need of her, then marry her to me. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Do you have anything which you can give her as a dowry?" The man said: I have nothing except this lower garment. So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If you give her your lower garment, then you will have no lower garment left. Go and look for something." He said: I have nothing. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Look, even if it is only an iron ring." The man searched but found nothing. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: "Do you know anything from the Qur'an by heart?" He said: Yes! Such and such surahs. He mentioned some surahs before the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: I have married this woman to you in exchange for the Qur'an that you know by heart.

And with the same chain of narration, it is narrated from (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade traveling with the Qur'an to the lands of the enemies (of Islam). Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said: I think the reason for this is the fear that it might fall into the hands of the enemy.

Sayyiduna Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard Hisham ibn Hakim (may Allah be pleased with him) reciting Surah al-Furqan in a way that I did not recite it, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had taught me this Surah. I was about to attack him in haste, but I gave him respite. When he finished (his recitation), I wrapped his cloak around his neck and took him to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Then I said: O Messenger of Allah! I heard him (Hisham) reciting Surah al-Furqan in a manner different from the way you taught me. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Hisham: "Recite!" So he recited as I had heard him. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "It was revealed in this way." Then he said to me: "Recite!" So I recited (the Surah), and he said: "It was revealed in this way." This Qur'an has been revealed upon seven modes (of recitation), so recite whatever is easy for you from it.

It is narrated from Aslam (Tabi'i) that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was traveling on one of his journeys, and Sayyiduna Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, was also traveling with him at night. Then Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, asked you about something, but the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, did not answer. Then (he asked again), but you, peace and blessings be upon him, did not answer. Then (he asked a third time), but you, peace and blessings be upon him, did not answer. Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, said (to himself): O Umar! May your mother lose you! You insisted and asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, three times, and each time he did not answer you. Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: I moved my camel until I reached in front of the people, and I was afraid that Qur'an would be revealed about me. After a short while, I heard a loud voice of a caller, so I said: I fear that Qur'an has been revealed about me. Then I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and greeted him with salam. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Tonight a surah has been revealed to me which is more beloved to me than anything upon which the sun shines." Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, recited, «إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُّبِينًا» "Indeed, We have given you a clear victory" (Surah al-Fath). Abu al-Hasan (al-Qabisi) said: The statement of the narrator that Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: Then I moved the camel... etc., clarifies that this narration was reported by Aslam from Umar, may Allah be pleased with him.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that I came with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and I heard a man reciting «قُلْ هُوَ اللَّـهُ أَحَدٌ . وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ» “Say: He is Allah, the One; Allah, the Self-Sufficient; He neither begets nor is born, and there is none like unto Him.”(Surah Al-Ikhlas). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“It has become obligatory.”I asked him: O Messenger of Allah! What has become obligatory? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Paradise.”Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I intended to go and give glad tidings to that man, but then I feared that I might miss the midday meal with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so I preferred the meal. Then I went to that man, but he had already left. The hadith of Ubaydullah Al-Aghar with Zayd bin Rabah has already passed [ ح۱۸۶] and the second part of Al-Mukhlis is completed. And all praise is due to Allah. The number of people from whom (Imam) Malik has narrated in this is thirty, and (according to the numbering of Abu Al-Hasan Al-Qabisi) the total number of hadiths is two hundred and thirty-four.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man heard another man reciting «‏‏‏‏قُلْ هُوَ اللَّـهُ أَحَدٌ» , and he was reciting it repeatedly. The man who heard this mentioned it to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the morning, as if he considered this to be a small act. Abu Yunus, the freed slave of Aisha (Tabi'i), narrates that Umm al-Mu'minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) ordered me to write a mushaf (copy of the Qur'an) for her. Then she said: When you reach this verse «حَافِظُوا عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَىٰ وَقُومُوا لِلَّـهِ قَانِتِينَ» "Guard strictly the prayers, and the middle prayer." 467- وبه قال: قلت لعائشة زوج النبى صلى الله عليه وسلم وانا يومئذ حديث السن، ارايت قول الله تبارك وتعالى: {إن الصفا والمروة من شعائر الله فمن حج البيت او اعتمر فلا جناح عليه ان يطوف بهما} فما ارى على احد شيئا ان لا يطوف بهما، فقالت عائشة: كلا: لو كانت كما تقول كانت: فلا جناح عليه ان لا يطوف بهما، إنما انزلت هذه الآية فى الانصار، كانوا يهلون لمناة، وكانت مناة حذو قديد، وكانوا يتحرجون ان يطوفوا بين الصفا والمروة فلما جاء الإسلام سالوا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن ذلك، فانزل الله تبارك وتعالى: {إن الصفا والمروة من شعائر الله فمن حج البيت او اعتمر فلا جناح عليه ان يطوف بهما}.
And with the same chain of narration, it is narrated from Urwah bin Zubair (may Allah have mercy on him) that I said to (my maternal aunt and) the wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), and at that time I was a small child: What is your opinion about the statement of Allah Almighty? «إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِن شَعَائِرِ اللَّـهِ فَمَنْ حَجَّ الْبَيْتَ أَوِ اعْتَمَرَ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِ أَن يَطَّوَّفَ بِهِمَا» "Indeed, Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah, so whoever performs Hajj or Umrah of the House, there is no sin upon him to walk between them (i.e., perform Sa'i)." [البقرة: 158] I think that if someone does not perform Sa'i between them, there is no sin upon him. So the Mother of the Believers, Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), said: Never! If that were the case, the verse would have been revealed as: 'Whoever does not perform the walk, there is no sin upon him.' This verse was revealed about the Ansar, who (before Islam) used to recite Talbiyah for Manat (a goddess), and Manat was near Qudayd (a place). They considered it objectionable to perform Sa'i between Safa and Marwah. Then when Islam came, Allah Almighty revealed this verse: «إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِن شَعَائِرِ اللَّـهِ فَمَنْ حَجَّ الْبَيْتَ أَوِ اعْتَمَرَ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِ أَن يَطَّوَّفَ بِهِمَا» .
