It is narrated from Ubaydullah (bin Abdullah) bin Utbah bin Mas'ud that he went to visit Sayyiduna Abu Talhah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) when he was ill, and Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunaif (may Allah be pleased with him) was also present there. Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) called a man and then took out the sheet from under himself. Sahl bin Hunaif (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: Why did you remove it? He replied: Because it has pictures on it, and you know what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said about this. Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Did he not say except for the designs that are on cloth? He replied: Yes, but removing this (cloth) is more preferable in my heart. The narrations of Abu al-Nadr are completed, and these are eight narrations. One of his narrations with the chain of Muhammad bin al-Munkadir has already passed regarding the plague (see), and the other narration with the chain of Abdullah bin Yazid has already passed regarding the prayer of the one who sits (see).

And with this same chain (it is narrated from Sayyida Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her) that during the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, there was a solar eclipse, so the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, led the people in prayer. He stood for a long time, then bowed and made a long bowing, then stood again for a long time, and this standing was shorter than the first. Then he bowed and made a long bowing, and this bowing was less than the first. Then he raised his head from bowing and prostrated, then did the same in the second rak‘ah. When he finished with salam, the sun had become bright again. He addressed the people and, after praising and glorifying Allah, said:“The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse because of anyone’s death or life. If you see these signs, then supplicate to Allah, say takbir, and give charity.”Then he said: O community of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! If any servant, male or female, of Allah commits adultery, then Allah is most possessive regarding it. O community of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! By Allah! If you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much.

And with this same chain (it is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When Allah loves a servant, He says: O Jibril! I love so-and-so, so you also love him. Then Jibril, peace be upon him, loves him. Then he announces among the inhabitants of the heavens: Listen! Indeed, Allah loves so-and-so, so you also love him. Then the inhabitants of the heavens love that person, and then he is granted acceptance (among the believers) on earth. And when (Allah) dislikes a person, then..." Imam Malik said: I think that a similar thing is said regarding dislike as well, that is, Allah dislikes him.

It is narrated from Abu Idris al-Khawlani (may Allah have mercy on him) that I entered the mosque of Damascus and saw a young man with shining teeth, and people were gathered around him. Whenever they differed about something, they would refer to him and turn to his opinion (decision). I asked: Who is this? It was said: This is Mu'adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him). The next morning I came early and saw that he had arrived before me and was praying. I waited for him, and when he finished his prayer, I came before him, greeted him with salam, and then said: By Allah! I love you for the sake of Allah. He said: By Allah, is it for Allah's sake? I said: By Allah, for Allah's sake! He said: By Allah, is it for Allah's sake? I said: By Allah, for Allah's sake! So he took hold of the edge (corner) of my cloak and pulled it towards him and said: Rejoice! For I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say that Allah says: My love is obligatory for those two persons who love each other for My sake, sit together for My sake, visit each other for My sake, and spend on each other for My sake.

With this same chain of narration, it is reported from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri or Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah will shade seven people with His (Throne's) shade on the day when there will be no shade except His shade: a just ruler, a youth who grew up in the worship of Allah, a man whose heart remains attached to the mosque from the time he leaves it until he returns, two men who love each other for the sake of Allah—they gather for that and part for that, a man who remembers Allah in solitude and his eyes overflow with tears, a man whom a beautiful woman of high status invites (to sin) but he says: I fear Allah, the Lord of the worlds, and a man who gives charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has spent."
