Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah
Seeking treatment is Sunnah

-" ما انزل الله داء، إلا قد انزل له شفاء، علمه من علمه، وجهله من جهله".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Allah the Exalted has sent down both the disease and its cure; some people have knowledge of it and some do not."

-" إن الله لم ينزل داء او لم يخلق داء إلا انزل او خلق له دواء، علمه من علمه وجهله من جهله إلا السام، قالوا: يا رسول الله وما السام؟ قال: الموت".
Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Indeed, Allah the Exalted has sent down the disease and also created its cure. Some people know it and some do not, except for «سام» .”They asked:“What is «سام» ?”The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied:“It is death.”

-" إن الله خلق الداء والدواء، فتداووا، ولا تتداووا بحرام".
Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah the Exalted has sent down both the disease and its cure, so seek treatment, but do not use anything unlawful as a remedy."

-" سبحان الله! وهل انزل الله من داء في الارض إلا جعل له شفاء".
An Ansari companion says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went to visit a wounded person and said: "Call the physician of such-and-such tribe for him." They called him, and he came and said: "O Messenger of Allah! Does medicine suffice as a cure?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Subhan Allah! Allah, the Exalted, has sent down a cure for every disease He has sent down upon the earth."

Treating without qualification is prohibited

-" من تطبب ولا يعلم منه طب، فهو ضامن".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever treats (someone) without complete knowledge of medicine, and his practice of medicine is not recognized, then he himself will be responsible (in case of harm)."

Seeking cure from the unlawful

-" من تداوى بحرام لم يجعل الله له فيه شفاء".
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever treats (illness) with something unlawful, Allah the Exalted will not make a cure for him in it."

-" تفل صلى الله عليه وسلم في رجل عمرو بن معاذ حين قطعت رجله، فبرات".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Buraidah narrates that I heard from my father, he was saying that Sayyiduna Amr bin Ma’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) had his leg cut off, and when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spat on it, it was healed.

-" الحبة السوداء شفاء من كل داء إلا السام".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Usamah bin Sharik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In the black seed, that is, black cumin, there is a cure for every disease except death."
