مختصر صحيح بخاري
Mukhtasar Sahih Bukhari
Raising both hands to shoulders at the opening Takbir.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would begin the prayer, he would raise both his hands up to the level of his shoulders, and when he said the takbeer for bowing (ruku‘), and when he raised his head from ruku‘, he would also raise both hands in the same way and say:“Sami‘ Allahu liman hamidah, Rabbana wa lakal hamd.”But he would not do this (raising of hands) in the two prostrations (sujood). Nafi‘ narrates that when Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would enter the prayer, he would first say the opening takbeer (takbeer tahrimah) and simultaneously raise his hands. Similarly, when he would bow (ruku‘), and when he would say“Sami‘ Allahu liman hamidah,”he would also raise both hands, and when he would rise from the first sitting (qa‘dah oola), he would also raise his hands. He attributed this action to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), (that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray in this manner).
Placing the right hand over the left in prayer.
Sahih Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) says that people were instructed (by the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) to place the right hand on the left wrist during prayer.
What to recite after the opening Takbir.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, Abu Bakr Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, and Umar Farooq, may Allah be pleased with him, used to begin the prayer with (Alhamdulillahi Rabbil 'Alamin).
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to observe a pause between the Takbir and the recitation (of the Qur'an). I said, "O Messenger of Allah! May my parents be sacrificed for you, what do you recite during the pause between the Takbir and the recitation?" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I say (this supplication): O Allah! Set a distance between me and my sins as You have set a distance between the East and the West. O Allah! Purify me from sins as a white garment is cleansed from dirt. O Allah! Wash away my sins with water, snow, and hail."
Chapter
Narrated from Sayyida Asma bint Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with her), the hadith regarding the prayer of eclipse has already been mentioned. (See Hadith: Book: Statement of Knowledge... Chapter: The person who answered a fatwa by gesture of hand or head...). In this narration, she says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "At that time, Paradise came so close to me that if I had dared, I would have brought one of its bunches to you, and Hell also came close to me until I said, 'O my Lord! Will I be included among these people?' Suddenly, my gaze fell upon a woman." I think the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A cat was scratching her. I asked, 'What happened to her?' The people said that she had tied up the cat until it died of hunger. This (woman) neither fed it nor let it go so that it could eat the insects of the earth (like mice, etc.)." (Nafi' was doubtful whether it was 'khushaysh' or 'khushash al-ard' that was said.)
“In the original manuscript, Hadiths ‘429 and 430’ have been combined. (Ibn Ibrahim)”
Looking at the imam during prayer.
It was asked from Sayyiduna Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) whether the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite (something) in the Zuhr and Asr prayers? Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Yes. It was asked: By what did you distinguish this? So Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: By the movement of the blessed beard of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
Looking towards the sky in prayer is not allowed.
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What is wrong with people that they raise their gaze towards the sky during their prayer?" Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) spoke very sternly about this until he said: "They must stop doing this, or their eyesight will be taken away."
Looking around during prayer.
Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about looking here and there during prayer. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is a snatching of Satan; he snatches from a person's prayer."
Reciting Al-Fatiha is obligatory for imam and followers in all prayers.
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the people of Kufa complained to the Commander of the Faithful, Umar Farooq, about Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him), so the Commander of the Faithful removed Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) and appointed Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) as their governor. The people made many complaints (against Sayyiduna Sa’d), to the extent that they said he does not lead the prayer well. So the Commander of the Faithful (may Allah be pleased with him) summoned him and said,“O Abu Ishaq!”(this is the kunyah of Sa’d, may Allah be pleased with him),“these people say that you do not lead the prayer well.”He replied,“Listen! By Allah, I lead them in prayer just as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to lead us. I would prolong the first two rak’ahs and shorten the last two.”Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said,“O Abu Ishaq! This is what I thought of you.”Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a man or a delegation with Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) to Kufa so that they could ask the people of Kufa about Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him). (So they went) and did not leave any mosque without asking about Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him), and all the people praised him highly, until they came to the mosque of Banu Abs. There, a man stood up—his name was Usamah bin Qatadah and his kunyah was Abu Sa’dah. He said,“Since you have made us swear (to tell the truth), (I am compelled to say) that Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) would not go out with the army (for jihad himself), nor would he distribute (the spoils) equally, nor was he just in his judgments.”Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him), upon hearing this, said,“Look, I make three supplications against you: O Allah! If this servant is lying and has stood up for show and fame, then lengthen his life, increase his poverty, and subject him to trials.”(And so it happened.) Afterwards, when he was asked about his condition, he would say,“I am an old man, afflicted by trials; I have been struck by the supplication of Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him).”Abdul Malik (the narrator of the hadith) says,“I saw him in this state: his eyebrows had drooped over his eyes due to old age, he would harass girls in the streets and molest them.”
