One who begs to increase wealth
Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever habitually begs from people will come on the Day of Resurrection in such a state that there will not be a piece of flesh on his face." And the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, the sun will be brought near until the sweat reaches up to half the ear, then all people will be in that state when suddenly they will seek help from Adam (peace be upon him), then from Musa (peace be upon him), then from Muhammad (peace be upon him)."

How much wealth is considered sufficiency (ghina)?
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "A poor person is not the one who goes around to people and gets a morsel or two, or a date or two (i.e., who fills his stomach by begging morsel by morsel from people), but the poor person is the one who does not have enough to suffice him, yet he is modest and does not beg persistently from people."

Estimating dates before ripening for Ushr
Sayyiduna Abu Humayd Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We fought in the Battle of Tabuk along with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). When he (peace be upon him) reached (the place) Wadi al-Qura, (he saw that) a woman was in her garden. The Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) said to his companions:“Estimate (how many dates are in her garden).”And the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) estimated it to be ten wasqs. Then he (peace be upon him) said to her:“Take care to see how many dates are produced from it.”Then when we reached (the place) Tabuk, he (peace be upon him) said:“Tonight there will be a strong wind, so no one should stand up, and whoever has a camel with him should tie it.”So we tied the camels, and a strong wind blew. A man (by chance) stood up, and the wind threw him onto the mountain called Tayy. And (in this battle) the king of Aylah sent a white mule to the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) and also a sheet for him to wear. The Prophet (peace be upon him) kept him as the ruler of that place. Then when (after the end of the battle) he returned and reached Wadi al-Qura, the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked that woman:“How many dates were produced in your garden?”She replied:“Ten wasqs, just as you had estimated.”The Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) said:“I wish to reach Madinah quickly, so whoever among you can hasten to go with me, let him do so.”When Madinah came into view for the Prophet (peace be upon him), he said:“This is Taba (another name for Madinah) coming.”Then when he (peace be upon him) saw Uhud, he said:“This is the mountain that loves us and we love it. Shall I not tell you about the best houses among the houses of the Ansar?”The companions said:“Yes.”He (peace be upon him) said:“The houses of Banu Najjar, then the houses of Banu ‘Abd al-Ashhal, then the houses of Sa’idah, or (he said) the houses of Banu Harith ibn Khazraj. (These houses are the best, otherwise) there is goodness in all the houses of the Ansar.”

Ushr is due on crops watered by rain or flowing water
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "On that which is irrigated by the water of the sky, i.e., rain, or by springs, or grows by itself, one-tenth (ushr) is obligatory, and on that which is irrigated by well water, half of one-tenth (i.e., one-twentieth) is obligatory."

Taking Zakat dates at harvest and letting children eat from them
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): Dates would start coming to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) as soon as they were harvested. Sometimes this person would come bringing his dates, sometimes that person would come bringing his dates, until heaps of dates would be piled up in front of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). (One day) Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) and Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) began to play with those dates. One of them took a date and put it in his mouth. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw this and immediately took the date out of his mouth and said: "Do you not know that the family of Muhammad does not eat charity?"

Is it permissible to buy back one's own charity? No harm if others buy it
Amir al-Mu’minin Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) says that (once) I gave a horse in the way of Allah for riding, but the person who had the horse did not value it. I intended to buy it back (because) I thought he would sell it cheaply. Therefore, I asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about this, and he said:“Do not buy it, even if he gives it to you for only one dirham. Indeed, the one who takes back his charity is like the one who eats his own vomit.”

Take charity from the rich and spend on the poor, wherever they are
The hadith of Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) and the mention of sending him to Yemen has already been mentioned (see the chapter: The obligation of Zakat is established from the Shariah...). Here, in this narration, it is stated that (the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said): "(O Mu'adh!) Also inform them that Allah Almighty has made Zakat obligatory upon them, which will be taken from their wealthy and distributed among their poor. If they accept this from you, then do not take the best of their wealth (as Zakat), and beware of the supplication of the oppressed, for there is no barrier between it and Allah Almighty."

Imam's supplication and seeking mercy for the giver of charity
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Awfi (may Allah be pleased with him) that it was the noble habit of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that whenever someone brought his charity to him, he (peace be upon him) would say: "O Allah! Have mercy on the children of so-and-so." So once, my father brought his charity to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah!
