Retribution for injustices.
Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): He (peace be upon him) said: "When the believers will be saved from the Hellfire, they will be stopped on a bridge between Paradise and Hell. Then they will settle the injustices that occurred between them in the world, until when they are purified and cleansed, they will be permitted to enter Paradise. By Him in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace be upon him), each person will recognize his home in Paradise better than he recognized his home in this world."

Allah's statement: "Allah's curse is upon the wrongdoers."
Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed, Allah will bring the believer close and will screen him and conceal him, and will say, 'Do you know such-and-such sin? Do you know such-and-such sin?' He will say, 'Yes, O Lord!' until Allah will make him confess all his sins, and he will think in his heart that he is ruined. Then Allah will say, 'I concealed them for you in the world, and today I forgive you for them.' Then he will be given the record of his good deeds. But as for the disbelievers and hypocrites, the witnesses will say (publicly) regarding them, 'These are the ones who lied against their Lord.' Behold! The curse of Allah is upon the wrongdoers."

Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim, so he should neither oppress him nor disgrace him. Whoever is engaged in fulfilling the need of his brother, Allah Almighty fulfills his need, and whoever removes a calamity from a Muslim, Allah Almighty will remove one of his calamities from the calamities of the Day of Resurrection. And whoever conceals the fault of a Muslim, Allah Almighty will conceal his fault on the Day of Resurrection.”

If the oppressed forgives, must the oppressor confess?
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever has wronged his brother concerning his honor or anything else, he should seek his forgiveness today, before there will be neither dinar nor dirham (i.e., before the Day of Resurrection). If he has any good deeds, they will be taken from him in proportion to his wrongdoing, and if he has no good deeds, the sins of the wronged person will be loaded onto him." (We seek refuge with Allah from that.)
