Mukhtasar Sahih Bukhari
Mixing water with milk to drink.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to an Ansari, and a companion (Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him) was with him. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to that person: "If you have water from the night (stale) in your waterskin, then serve it (from a vessel), otherwise we will drink directly from the trough." (The narrator) says that this person was watering his garden (that is why the Prophet, peace be upon him, said this). That person submitted, "Please come to the hut, I have water from the night (stale) (I will bring it)." So he took both of them there and brought water in a bowl and milk from his goat, which he milked into it, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) drank it, then the one who had come with him also drank.
Drinking while standing is permissible.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to the door of the platform (in the mosque of Kufa) and drank while standing, then said: "Indeed, some people consider it disliked to drink water while standing, whereas I myself saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) drinking in this manner, just as you have seen me drinking."
Narrated Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) drank Zamzam water while standing.
Drinking from a water skin by turning the mouth is not allowed.
Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade turning the water-skin upside down (i.e., the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, forbade drinking water from the mouth of the water-skin by turning it over).
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade drinking from the mouth (opening) of a water-skin or water-bag (the narrator is unsure), and also forbade that anyone should prevent his neighbor from driving a peg into his wall.
Prohibition of breathing into the vessel while drinking.
(Book: Regarding the Description of Ablution... Chapter: Prohibition of Performing Istinja with the Right Hand... This hadith has already been mentioned.)
Drinking water in three breaths.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to breathe three times while drinking water.
Drinking from silver vessels is not allowed.
Narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever drinks (or eats) from a silver vessel, indeed he is filling his belly with the fire of Hell."
Drinking from bowls is permissible.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to the house of Banu Sa’ida and said:“O Sahl! Give us water to drink.”I brought out that bowl and gave water to him (the Prophet, peace be upon him) in it. The narrator says that Sayyiduna Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) brought out the same bowl for us and we drank from it. After that, ‘Umar bin ‘Abd al-‘Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) requested that bowl as a gift, so he gave it to him.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that he had the cup of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He says that I gave water to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in this cup for a long time. (The narrator) says that there was an iron ring in this cup. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) wished to replace it with a silver or gold ring, but Sayyiduna Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) said (upon hearing this), "Do not change what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has made." So Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) left it as it was.
