Paradise and Hell are closer than your shoelaces.
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Paradise is closer to you than the strap of your sandal, and likewise, Hell is closer to you than the strap of your sandal." (So be cautious.)

Look at those below you in worldly matters, not those above.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When any one of you looks at someone who is wealthier than him, he should also look at someone who is less fortunate than him."

Intending to do good or evil.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said among other Qudsi narrations:“Allah Almighty has written down good deeds and bad deeds and has made it clear which is a good deed and which is a bad deed. So whoever intends to do a good deed but does not do it, Allah will write a complete good deed in his record. And whoever intends to do a good deed and then does it, Allah will write for him ten to seven hundred good deeds, or even more, as much as He wills. And whoever intends to do a bad deed but refrains from doing it (out of fear of Allah), Allah will write a complete good deed for him. And whoever intends to do a bad deed and then does it, only one sin will be written for him.”

Honesty will disappear near the end times.
Sayyiduna Abu Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) narrated two hadiths to me; I have witnessed the fulfillment of one, and I am awaiting the fulfillment of the other. The first hadith is: "Trustworthiness was first instilled in the depths of the hearts, then people learned about the command of trustworthiness from the Qur'an, and then they learned it from the Sunnah of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)." And regarding the disappearance of trustworthiness, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Trustworthiness will soon be taken away, and it will happen that a man will sleep and trustworthiness will be removed from his heart. Its effect will remain like a faint mark. Then he will sleep again, and the remaining trustworthiness will also be removed, and its sign will be like a blister, as if you kick a burning coal with your foot and it swells up, and you see it raised, though there is nothing inside it. In the morning, people will get up and engage in buying and selling, but there will not be a trustworthy person among them. Trustworthy people will become so rare that people will say in amazement (that, brother) in such-and-such tribe, such-and-such person is so trustworthy, and about a person they will say how clever, wise, and brave he is, though there will not be even a mustard seed's worth of faith in his heart." Then he narrates that a time has passed over me when I had no hesitation in dealing with anyone. Islam would bring a Muslim to give me my due, and a Christian's ruler would compel him to give me my right. But nowadays, I do not deal or buy and sell with anyone except so-and-so and so-and-so.

Narrated Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "The condition of people is like that of camels; out of a hundred camels, you will not find a single camel fit for riding swiftly."

The evil of showing off and seeking fame.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever does a good deed to show off to the creation, Allah will make his bad intention known to everyone (on the Day of Resurrection), and whoever does a good deed to be seen by people, Allah will also show his true reality to everyone on the Day of Resurrection." (And they will not receive any reward.)

On humility.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty says: Whoever shows enmity to My friend, I declare war against him. And nothing is more beloved to Me by which My servant draws near to Me than what I have made obligatory upon him. And My servant continues to draw near to Me through supererogatory acts until I love him. And when I love him, I become his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand with which he grasps, and his foot with which he walks. And if he asks Me (for anything), I surely grant it to him, and if he seeks refuge with Me, I surely grant him refuge. And I do not hesitate in anything as I hesitate in taking the soul of the believer; he dislikes death and I dislike to displease him."

Whoever loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Ubada bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Whoever likes to meet Allah, Allah also likes to meet him; and whoever dislikes to meet Allah, Allah also dislikes to meet him.”Umm al-Mu’minin ‘A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) or one of the other noble wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) submitted,“We also dislike death.”So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“That is not (the meaning); rather, the meaning is that when the time of death comes for a believer, he is given the glad tidings of Allah’s pleasure and honor. At that moment, nothing ahead of him (i.e., meeting Allah) seems better to him, so he likes to meet Allah and Allah likes to meet him. And when the time of death comes for a disbeliever, he is informed of Allah’s punishment and torment. So nothing ahead of him (i.e., punishment and torment) seems worse to him, and he dislikes to meet Allah and Allah dislikes to meet him.”

The agony and hardships of death.
Narrated from Ummul Momineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that some Bedouins and harsh-natured people from Arabia used to come to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and ask: "When will that Hour (the Day of Judgment) come?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) would look towards the youngest among them and say: "If this one lives, old age will not come upon him before the Hour comes upon you, meaning you will die (and death is also a kind of Hour)."

On Allah folding up the earth on the Day of Judgment.
Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, the earth will be like a loaf of bread which Allah, the Exalted, will turn over with His Hand, just as one of you turns over his bread during a journey. This will be a feast for the people of Paradise." (The narrator says) Then a Jew came and said, "O Abul-Qasim! May Allah bless you, shall I not inform you of the feast of the people of Paradise on the Day of Resurrection?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Yes, tell me." He said the same as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had said, that the earth (on the Day of Resurrection) will be like a loaf of bread. (The narrator says that) when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) heard this, he looked towards us and smiled until his blessed teeth became visible. Then the Jew said, "Shall I not tell you what its relish will be?" Its relish will be balam and noon. The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked, "What are these?" He said, "Ox and fish." These ox and fish will be so large that a piece hanging from their liver will be eaten by seventy thousand people of Paradise.
