Prohibiting women from going to the mosque.
Sayyida ‘Amrah bint ‘Abd al-Rahman (may Allah be pleased with her) heard from Umm al-Mu’minin ‘A’ishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: If the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had seen the women of this age who adorn themselves, he would have prevented them from coming to the mosque, just as the women of Bani Isra’il were prevented. (The narrator) Yahya ibn Sa‘id asked the narrator Sayyida ‘Amrah (may Allah be pleased with her): O ‘Amrah! Were the women of Bani Isra’il prevented from coming to the mosque? She said: Yes.

Supplication when entering the mosque.
Sayyiduna Abu Humayd (or Sayyiduna Abu Usayd) رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: When anyone enters the mosque, he should say, "O Allah, open the doors of Your mercy for me," and when he leaves, he should say, "O Allah, I ask You for Your bounty, that is, sustenance and the blessings of this world."

Praying two rak‘ahs (Tahiyyat al-Masjid) upon entering mosque.
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I went to the mosque and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting among the people, so I also sat down. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Who stopped you from praying two rak‘ahs before sitting down? I replied: O Messenger of Allah! I saw you and the people sitting, so I sat down (as well). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any of you enters the mosque, he should not sit until he has prayed two rak‘ahs.

Prohibition of leaving mosque after adhan.
Abu Sha’tha’ says: We were sitting in the mosque with Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) when the muezzin gave the call to prayer, and a man stood up from the mosque and began to leave. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) kept looking at him until he went out. Then Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: This person has disobeyed Abul Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him).

Expiation for spitting in the mosque.
`Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Spitting in the mosque is a sin, and its expiation is that (if one spits) he should bury it in the earth.

Dislike of coming to mosque after eating garlic.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said during the battle of Khaybar: Whoever eats this plant, meaning the garlic plant, should not come to the mosque.

Ruling on staying away from mosque after eating raw onion or garlic.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever eats onions or garlic should keep away from us, or he said: should keep away from our mosque and sit in his house. Once, a pot containing vegetables was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he found a bad smell in it, so he asked: What has been put in it? When it was made known to him, he said: Take it to such-and-such companion. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw that he also disliked eating it (because the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, did not eat it), the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: You eat it, for I converse with one whom you do not converse with (i.e., the angels).

Removing those with garlic or onion odor from mosque.
Ma’dan bin Abi Talhah narrates that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) delivered a sermon on Friday and mentioned the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), and said: I saw in a dream that a rooster pecked me three times. I interpret this as meaning that my death is now near. Some people say to me that you should appoint your successor and caliph, and surely Allah Almighty will not ruin His religion, nor His caliphate, nor that which He sent the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with. If my death comes soon, then the caliphate will remain among those six people with whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was pleased until his death, through consultation. And I know that some people criticize those whom I myself struck with this hand of mine for the sake of Islam. Then if they do so (i.e., consider that criticism valid), they are enemies of Allah and disbelieving deviants. And after me, I do not leave anything as difficult as the matter of kalalah. I did not ask the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about anything as many times as I asked about kalalah. And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not show me such strictness in any matter as he did in this, until he poked me in the chest with his finger and said: O Umar! Is not that verse sufficient for you which was revealed in the summer at the end of Surah An-Nisa:“They ask you for a legal verdict. Say: Allah directs (thus) about al-Kalalah: If a man dies, leaving no child but (only) a sister, she shall have half of what he left...”(An-Nisa: 176). And if I remain alive, I will give such a verdict about kalalah that everyone will judge accordingly, whether he has read the Qur’an or not. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Allah! I make You a witness over those people to whom I have given the governance of lands (i.e., deputies, governors, and scholars). I have sent them only so that they may do justice, teach people the matters of religion, teach them the way of your Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), distribute the spoils of war among the people, and if they face any difficulty in any matter, they should ask me about it. Then, O people! I see that you eat two plants, and I dislike them—they are onions and garlic. And I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that when their smell came from any person, by the order of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he was taken out of the mosque towards Baqi’. Now, if anyone eats them, he should cook them well (so that their smell is eliminated).

Prohibition of announcing lost items in mosque.
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever hears someone calling out in the mosque about a lost item (that is, he raises his voice calling people for his lost thing), then he should say: May Allah not return your item to you. For indeed, mosques were not built for this purpose.
