Prohibition of making graves places of prostration.
Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that when the time of the Messenger of Allah's (peace and blessings be upon him) death approached, he began to cover his face with a striped cloak. When he would feel uneasy, he would remove the cloak from his face. In that state, he said: "May Allah's curse be upon the Jews and Christians who took the graves of their prophets as places of worship." He (peace and blessings be upon him) was warning that his own people should not do the same.

Prohibition of building mosques on graves.
Narrated from Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her): Lady Umm Habiba and Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with them both) mentioned to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) a church which they had seen in Abyssinia, and in it were pictures. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: These people, when a righteous man among them died, they would build a mosque over his grave and make images in it. These are the worst of creatures in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection.

Entire earth made pure and a mosque for me.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: I have been given superiority over the prophets in six matters: 1. I have been given words which are concise but have vast meanings (i.e., the Word of Allah or the words of the Messenger of Allah himself), 2. I have been helped by awe (cast into the hearts of my enemies), 3. The spoils of war have been made lawful for me, 4. The whole earth has been made a means of purification and a place of prayer (a mosque) for me, 5. I have been sent to all of creation (whether they are jinn, Arabs, or non-Arabs), 6. Prophethood has been sealed with me.

How much should the sutrah (barrier) be for the praying person?
Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you stands for prayer and there is an object in front of him equal to the back part of a saddle, then that is sufficient as a barrier for him. If there is not an object of that size (or higher) in front of him, and a donkey, a woman, or a black dog passes in front of him, then his prayer is invalidated. I said: O Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him)! What is special about a black dog, and not a red or yellow dog? He said: O my nephew! I also asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) just as you have asked me, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The black dog is a devil.

Standing close to the sutrah in prayer.
Sahl bin Sa’d al-Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to stand for prayer at such a distance from the qiblah wall that there was enough space for a goat to pass through.

Lying in front of someone praying.
‘Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her)’ (when it was mentioned before her that the prayer is broken if a dog, donkey, or woman passes in front of the one praying) she said: You have made us equal to donkeys and dogs. By Allah, I have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) praying while I was lying on the bed in front of him, facing the qiblah. When I needed something, I disliked sitting up in front of him and causing him discomfort, so I would quietly slip away from the foot of the bed.

Ruling of facing the qiblah.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that a man entered the mosque and performed prayer while the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was sitting in a corner of the mosque. Then, after narrating the entire hadith, he said at the end: When you stand for prayer, perform ablution properly, then stand facing the Qiblah, and then say the Takbir.

Changing qiblah from Jerusalem to Ka‘bah.
Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I offered prayer with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) facing Bayt al-Maqdis for sixteen months, until this verse was revealed in Surah al-Baqarah:“Wherever you are, turn your faces towards the Ka‘bah”(al-Baqarah: 144). So this verse was revealed when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had already performed the prayer. One of his companions heard this and went out; on the way, he found some people from the Ansar (as usual) praying facing Bayt al-Maqdis, so he narrated this hadith to them (that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had been commanded to face the Ka‘bah). Upon hearing this, those people turned themselves towards the Ka‘bah during their prayer.

No prayer except obligatory when prayer is established.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: When the takbir for the obligatory prayer is pronounced, then there is no (other) prayer except that obligatory prayer. Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I offered prayer with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) facing Bayt al-Maqdis for sixteen months, until this verse was revealed in Surah al-Baqarah:“Wherever you are, turn your faces towards the Ka‘bah”(al-Baqarah: 144). He narrated this hadith to them (that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had been commanded to face the Ka‘bah). Upon hearing this, they turned themselves towards the Ka‘bah while still in prayer.

When should people stand after iqamah is called?
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the call for prayer (iqamah) is made, do not stand up until you see me. (Do not stand before the imam arrives.) Sayyiduna Bara bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I prayed with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) facing Bayt al-Maqdis for sixteen months, until this verse was revealed in Surah al-Baqarah: "Wherever you are, turn your face towards the Ka'bah" (al-Baqarah: 144).
