Treatment with black seed
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "In the black seed there is a cure for every disease except as-sam." And as-sam means death, and the black seed refers to black cumin (kalonji).
Whoever eats Ajwa dates in the morning is protected from poison and magic
`Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say that whoever eats seven ‘Ajwah dates in the morning, no poison will harm him until the evening, nor will any magic affect him.
Narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is healing in the 'Ajwa dates of 'Aliyah (the part of Madinah which is towards Najd)," or he said, "They are an antidote in the morning." (They have the benefit of an antidote.)
Mushroom is from manna; its water is a cure for the eye
Saeed bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say, "The mushroom is from the 'manna' which Allah sent down upon the Children of Israel, and its water is a cure for the eye."
Treatment with Indian aloeswood
Narrated from Sayyiduna Ubaydullah bin Abdullah bin Utbah bin Mas'ud that Sayyidah Umm Qais bint Mihsan (who was among the first women of the emigrants and had pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and she was the sister of 'Ukkasha bin Mihsan, who was from Banu Asad bin Khuzaymah) informed me, saying: I brought my child to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, who had not yet reached the age of eating food. And due to the illness of 'udrah, she (Umm Qais) had pressed his throat (Yunus said that "a'laqt" means "I pressed." She feared the danger of convulsions in the child). She says that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Why do you cause pain to your children by pressing and raising the palate (with a finger or a wooden stick)? You should use Indian aloeswood, that is, "costus." It is a cure for seven diseases, one of which is pleurisy (pain in the side). Ubaydullah said that Umm Qais, may Allah be pleased with her, narrated to me that this same child urinated in the lap of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, so he called for water and sprinkled it on his garment and did not wash it.
Treating by putting medicine in the mouth
‘Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says that during the illness of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we put medicine in his mouth. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured and said,“Do not put medicine in my mouth.”We said among ourselves that he dislikes medicine because of his illness (so it is not necessary to act on this). When he (peace and blessings be upon him) regained consciousness, he said,“Medicine should be put in the mouth of all of you except Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), as he was not present here.”(He (peace and blessings be upon him) gave this punishment to those who did not obey his command.)
Cupping and nasal medication
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had cupping done and gave wages to the one who performed cupping, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also put medicine in his nose.
Treating with cupping and cauterization
‘Asim bin ‘Umar bin Qatadah says that Sayyiduna Jabir bin ‘Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to our house and there was a man suffering from a wound (i.e., he had developed an ulcer). Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) asked,“What is troubling you?”He replied,“I have an ulcer which is very severe for me.”Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said,“O servant! Bring a cupping practitioner.”He said,“What is the use of a cupping practitioner?”Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said,“I want to have cupping done on this wound.”He replied,“By Allah, flies will trouble me and if cloth touches it, I will be in pain and it will be very hard for me.”When Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) saw that he was distressed by the idea of cupping, he said,“I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘If there is any good in your medicines, it is in three things: cupping, a drink of honey, and cauterization with fire; but I do not prefer cauterization.’”The narrator said that then the cupping practitioner came and performed cupping on him, and his illness went away.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that Umm al-Mu'mineen Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) sought permission from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to have cupping done, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered Abu Taybah to perform cupping for her. The narrator said: I think he said that Abu Taybah was either the foster brother of Umm al-Mu'mineen Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) or a minor boy (with whom veiling is not obligatory, and in case of necessity, if a woman or a boy is not available for treatment, then a non-mahram man may also perform it).
Treating by vein-cutting and cauterization
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent Hakim to Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him), so he cut a vein (i.e., performed bloodletting), then cauterized it.
