Hadith Number: 547
وعن حمزة بن عمرو الاسلمي رضي الله عنه انه قال: يا رسول الله اجد بي قوة على الصيام في السفر فهل علي جناح؟ فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: «هي رخصة من الله فمن اخذ بها فحسن ومن احب ان يصوم فلا جناح عليه» . رواه مسلم واصله في المتفق عليه من حديث عائشة، ان حمزة بن عمرو سال.
Hamzah bin ’Amro Al-Aslami (RAA) narrated, ‘I said to the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) ‘O Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم )! I find within me the strength to fast while traveling. Would there be any blame upon me if I were to do so?’ The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said to him, "It is a concession from Allah. Whoever takes it has done well. Whoever likes to fast, there is no blame upon him."Related by Muslim. And it's basic meaning is in Al-Bukhari and Muslim from the narration of Aisha (with the wording) "that Hamza bin 'Amro asked".
Hadith Number: 548
وعن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما قال: رخص للشيخ الكبير ان يفطر ويطعم عن كل يوم مسكينا ولا قضاء عليه. رواه الدراقطني والحاكم وصححاه.
Ibn ’Abbas (RAA) narrated, ‘An elderly man is permitted to break his fast, but he must feed a poor person daily, and he does not have to make up for it.’ Related by Ad-Daraqutni and Al- hakim, who rendered it to be Sahih
Hadith Number: 549
وعن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال: جاء رجل إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم فقال: هلكت يا رسول الله قال: «وما اهلكك؟» قال: وقعت على امراتي في رمضان فقال: «هل تجد ما تعتق رقبة؟» قال: لا، قال: «فهل تستطيع ان تصوم شهرين متتابعين؟» قال: لا، قال: «فهل تجد ما تطعم ستين مسكينا؟» قال: لا، ثم جلس فاتي النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم بعرق فيه تمر فقال:«تصدق بهذا» فقال: اعلى افقر منا؟ فما بين لابتيها اهل بيت احوج منا فضحك النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم حتى بدت انيابه ثم قال: «اذهب فاطعمه اهلك» . رواه السبعة واللفظ لمسلم.
Abu Hurairah (RAA) narrated that A man came to the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) and said,“l am ruined O Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم )!" The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) asked him,“What has ruined you?" The man replied, ‘I had intercourse with my wife during the day in Ramadan while fasting)’ The Prophet said to him, "Are you able to free a slave?" The man said, ‘No.’ The Prophet said, "Can you fast for two consecutive months?" He said, ‘NO.' The Prophet then asked him, "Can you provide food for sixty poor people?" He said, ‘No.’ Then the man sat down. A basket of dates was brought to the Prophet and he said to the man,“Give this as Sadaqah (voluntary charity)”The man said, ‘To someone who is poorer than us!’ There is no one in this city (Al-Madinah) who is in need of these dates more than us!’ The Prophet laughed until his molar teeth could be seen and said to the man,“Go and feed your family with these dates.”Related by the seven Imams and the wording is from Muslim.
Hadith Number: 550
وعن عائشة وام سلمة رضي الله عنهما، ان النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم كان يصبح جنبا من جماع ثم يغتسل ويصوم. متفق عليه، وزاد مسلم في حديث ام سلمة:" ولا يقضي".
'A’isha and Umm Salamah (RAA) narrated, The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) would rise in the morning (when it is already Fajr time) while he was Junub (in a state of major ritual impurity due to intercourse) on a day in Ramadan. He would then perform Ghusl and fast. Agreed upon. In the narration of Muslim on the authority of Umm Salamah, ‘And he would not make up for it (that day).’
Hadith Number: 551
وعن عائشة رضي الله عنها ان النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: «من مات وعليه صيام صام عنه وليه» . متفق عليه.
'A’isha (RAA) narrated that The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: "Whoever dies while he still has some fasts to make up (of the days of Ramadan), then his heir (any of them) should fast on his behalf.”Agreed upon.
باب صوم التطوع وما نهي عن صومه
Hadith Number: 552
عن ابي قتادة الانصاري رضي الله عنه ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم سئل عن صوم يوم عرفة فقال: «يكفر السنة الماضية والباقية» وسئل عن صوم يوم عاشوراء فقال: «يكفر السنة الماضية» وسئل عن صوم يوم الاثنين فقال: «ذلك يوم ولدت فيه ويوم بعثت فيه او انزل علي فيه» . رواه مسلم.
Abu Qatadah Al-Ansari (RAA) narrated, ‘The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) was asked about fasting on the day of Arafah (the 9th of the month of Dhul Hijjah). He replied, "Fasting on the day of Arafah is an expiation for the preceding year and the following year.”He was also asked about fasting on the day of Ashura (the 10th of the month of Muharram). He replied,“Fasting on the day of Ashura is an expiation for the preceding year.”The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) was also asked about fasting on Monday, and he replied, "This is the day on which I was born and the day on which I was sent (with the Message of Islam) and the day on which I received revelation." Related by Muslim.
Hadith Number: 553
وعن ابي ايوب الانصاري رضي الله عنه ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: «من صام رمضان ثم اتبعه ستا من شوال كان كصيام الدهر» . رواه مسلم.
Abu Aiyub Al-Ansari (RAA) narrated that The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: "Whoever fasts during the month of Ramadan and then follows it with six days of Shawwal will be (rewarded) as if he had fasted the entire year." Related by Muslim.
Hadith Number: 554
وعن ابي سعيد الخدري رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: «ما من عبد يصوم يوما في سبيل الله إلا باعد الله بذلك اليوم عن وجهه النار سبعين خريفا» متفق عليه واللفظ لمسلم.
Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (RAA) narrated that The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said:“No servant (of Allah) fasts on a day (merely) for the sake of Allah except that Allah pushes the Hellfire seventy years further away from his face, due to fasting on this day.”Agreed upon and the wording is from Muslim.
Hadith Number: 555
وعن عائشة رضي الله عنها قالت: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم يصوم حتى نقول لا يفطر ويفطر حتى نقول لا يصوم وما رايت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم استكمل صيام شهر قط إلا رمضان وما رايته في شهر اكثر منه صياما في شعبان. متفق عليه واللفظ لمسلم
'A’isha (RAA) narrated, ‘The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) used to fast until one would say, he never breaks his fast (i.e. he never stops fasting), and he would abandon fasting (at other times) until one would say that he never fasts. And I never saw the Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) fast for a complete month except for the month of Ramadan, and I never saw him fast in a month more than he did in the month of Sha’ban.”Agreed upon and the wording is from Muslim.
Hadith Number: 556
وعن ابي ذر رضي الله عنه قال: امرنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم ان نصوم من الشهر ثلاثة ايام: ثلاث عشرة واربع عشرة وخمس عشرة. رواه النسائي والترمذي وصححه ابن حبان
Abu Dharr (RAA) narrated that The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) commanded us to fast for three days of every month; that is on the days of the full moon; the 13th , 14th , and 15th (of the lunar month).’ Related by An-Nasa’i and At-Tirmidhi and rendered authentic by Ibn Hibban.
